Leather Differences

I'm playing with the build your wrangler on Jeep's website and I don't understand the difference between the "Leather-Trimmed Bucket Seats" ($1495) or the "Perforated Leather" or the "Stitched Leather" seats ($1750). Is it just a texture thing?

It's what's called pleather, a kind of man made leather. IIRC they take scrapes of leather, make a kind of slurry, then somehow make sheets of the stuff. They then put a protective coating over it that makes it easier to keep clean. They recommend using a damp rag to clean it, and there really no need for leather treatments as the coating won't allow it to soak in. It won't crack like real leather either. All in all it's fairly tough stuff, and looks as good as real leather IMHO. Cheaper also. I have the standard leather in my Sahara, and it looks pretty darn good. I've had it in my other cars for awhile, still do in the other two I have, and no one has ever said, "That ain't real leather". :)

Disclaimer: Being this is my first Jeep, I may be off base on how FCA does their leather. They could use real leather on some seat parts. But, I doubt it.

I got the leather with the Sahara logos, that particular package also wraps the steering wheel and the dash and plastic part over the glove box, if an elegant refined interior is your thing then def go for that, although the leather in this package still “zips” off your seats for some reason lol. If savings is your thing and you still want leather but you dig the plastic matte looking dash and trim go with the cloth seats, and then you can have the dealer wrap the seats with their custom leather options which does look really nice, and believe me they have a TON of patterns/colors of leather to choose from. It’s also a little bit cheaper of a leather price, same leather quality. Another point to note is that while searching online for jeeps every cloth seat picture I came across looked terrible!! but then I went into an actual Jeep dealership and saw/felt the “cloth” option. I gotta say it’s very nice, not at all the faded grayish material every photo seemed to portrait. it’s like a fibrous rich charcoal colored material, very neat and expensive looking/feeling. Im sure it’s designed to get wet or dirty and hold up.

For more options, check out the Mopar/Katzkin custom leather program. You can order through your dealer with a Mopar part number and choose from an insane variety of leathers, colors and stitching patterns (including logo embroidered into the front seats). I chose a 2-tone gray with diamond stitch and it came out great.

What is the price difference between katzkin and the standard leather? It looks like you still get the center counsel, doors, and other trim?
