Need some advise,
I bout a zone lift from Mid Atlantic 4x4 in Glen Burnie back in September. They have done other work for me in the past and I was generally pleased (although naive). However after only about 1000 miles I began to have a lot of death wobble, I took my Jeep to Adams Jeep (they were recommended) and they basically told that the installation was horrible, and the angles are all off (it’s so bad that it blew out the steering stabilizer that was installed with the lift). The tech said that the they had welded my rear trac bar instead of bolting it, the problem is that instead of welding it properly it looks like they just tacked it in two spots and its currently about to snap off. Adams also said that the bushings are shot, after only 1000 miles! I have called Mid-Atlantic and left messages, but have yet to hear back from them. I have two questions I need some help with: Has anyone had work done from Mid-Atlantic that was problematic, and what did they do about it (did they stand behind their work and fix it or just make excuses)? And also, after Mid-Atlantic fixes the bushings, trac bar etc. (assuming they will) should I take it back to Adams to have it set up properly? They are quoting me $300-400 to "set it up properly" -Thanks for the advice!

Think you need to talk to the shop that did the install and not let anyone else mess with it until then. Not really sure what "set up" means as Zone kits are mostly drop/bolt in kits. Something does not sound right. Angles? What angles? Drive shaft or????.
What Zone kit? Hope it is not true but you might be up the creek with the install of off road parts. Not being rude saying this but how will the shop know you did not pound it off road non stop or something. NOT saying you did and hope the shop will work with you but not sure they will. Good luck.

X2. Those kits offer little to no adjustability and often lack all required parts to properly setup your rig.

I live in Glen Burnie and saw your post. I am going to be putting a 4" lift on my 02' TJ soon and think I am going to go to Jeff Daniel's Jeep in PA for my lift. All they do there is Jeep Customization and seem very reputable, but it is a couple hours away. I called them up with questions about my lift and those guys really seemed to know their stuff.

I would definitely say that if Mid Atlantic already made one mistake, they could easily make another. I would definitely get it fixed someplace else like Adam's Jeep.

I have had good experiences with Adams Jeep - 3-400 doesn't seem unreasonable to get things right, plus you have the added benefit of having a reputable company with a direct affiliation to Jeep/Chrysler do the work.

If it was me - I'd cut my losses and have Adams get my rig straightened out. At most maybe try and get a partial refund out of Mid-Atlantic. It may also be worth checking out our (maryland's) consumer protection laws regarding auto repair shops. If you can quote the law to them, they'll be more apt to make it right. If they refuse to deal with you, the Better Business Bureau as well as the MD Consumer Protection Agency (Maryland Attorney General - Consumer Protection Division) are there to help out.

I agree with bryan ^^

Besides the trac bar being welded on instead of bolted, everything else seems normal when you lift a Jeep. The angle (assuming drive shaft) is changed when you lift a vehicle, and a sye needs to be installed to properly fix the drive-terrain angles. Death wobble is notorious on Jeeps (lifted jeeps more-so) and may be part of the cause from your trac bar and/or alignment issues. Use the second opinion against them when you call.
