I am going to replace my rear fender flare (see https://www.wranglerforum.com/f274/missing-rear-fender-flare-2319027.html) and am trying to decide if I should use the OEM part or aftermarket, specifically Crown or OMIX-ADA. What I am trying to figure out is if there would be any issues using these aftermarket fender flares. Would they be indistinguishable from the OEM? Are there any marks or labels indicating the manufacturer not being OEM? The price difference is about $130 but it won't be worth it if there are problems or an obvious difference. Thanks.

I agree with MW. If you go with an off brand you might get unexpected fading or something of that sort. Not sure if you plan on bigger tires or a lift, but some of the flat plastic fender sets are reasonable in price. Nothing wrong with the stock look, and the breakaway ability of them. Let us know what you end up doing!

I bought a Crown fender to replace my destroyed front fender. It had a bit of extra flash I had to trim but so far, it looks factory. Couldn't beat the price either and it came with the plastic clips. The locals on CL here felt their factory take offs were very special and priced them accordingly.

Thanks for all the advice. Managed to find the fender flare on Craig's List for $75 and then with about $15 in clips I was good to go. Overall quite easy to do the install. The only hard part was the plastic rivets. Maybe it was my rivet gun but it was a bit of a chore. I bought 15 rivets for the 6 holes and used every one of them as I broke several and had a few not set properly and then I had to cut them out. I figured out a technique at then end where I would start the rivet with two pliers, one to hold it in place pushing down on the rivet head while I pulled the mandrel with the other. After I pulled it as far as I could I put the rivet gun on it and then was able to finish. Overall I learned a lot and could probably do it again start to finish in a half hour. This time it took about an hour and a half.
