P0128 went away before it could be fixed

I have a 2013 JKU with 125K mi. About a week ago my check engine light came on and threw code P0128. The code reader said the thermostat needed replaced so I made an appt with my mechanic (I don't have a garage or shop to work in right now) to replace it. The appt. was for later this week, but yesterday the code went off on its own. Has anyone had that happen before? I'm still planning to have the thermostat replaced, but thought I'd ask as it seems odd the light stayed on constantly for about a week, then went off.

So our Jeep did that, it is for the coolant being too cool. Didn’t make a lot of sense as it seemed to get up to temp. Did a test found out with my wife running the heater full blast with the top and doors off apparently it drew just enough heat it caused the code to kick on. It’s only come on one other time.

Thermostat stuck open.
The first time mine did it, I just erased the DTM.
P0128 is a permanent code, and will stay in the system until it completes so many cycles without detecting the low coolant temp.
That said, after mine set the code again, I replaced the thermostat.
hasn't been back on since

It was stuck open, and unstuck but with cold weather pending, it will happen again. Its got 125k miles. Time to replace it and flush your coolant anyway.
