It passed the Senate, now awaits a vote in the State House of Reps, but remember they flipped the legislature and this was a Republican's innitiative. Then it would have to go to the desk of a Governor who is as bad as the last.

i would run soft half doors. Though they add no structure or relative safety. They are what is plausible deniability. It has a door.

 

I think the law goes it must run with original factory equipment so if your old jeep had doors as an option you didn’t have to run with them.

 

In addition to the discussion I read at some point the side mirrors required was perhaps overstated according to the vehicle codes. That may be a concession to the new standards.

 

The bill needs to be taken up by the house transportation committee pretty quick before the entire legislature goes into budget mode. Anyone who can correspond with the sitting house transportation committee members should ask them to bring it to a vote and pass unammended. This is the cleanest bill I have seen on this matter.

I think it is only illegal for PA registered Jeeps. It’s based on inspection rules, and your Jeep isn’t subject to PA inspection.

To pass inspection your vehicle has to have any doors that are standard on it from the factory. Doors have been standard since I think the YJ, so CJs are exempt. There is also an exception for modified vehicles such as the Meyers Manx.

The rule is not frequently enforced, and you will see a lot of Jeeps without doors in PA. I was pulled over once in 6 years. No fine. I just had to put my doors on and take it to a state police barracks to show they were on.

Interesting. Does it matter that there was so much time between the house and senate votes? This is the only time I sort of wish Wolf were still in office. He was supposedly a Jeep guy (TJ)

 

The Governor just needs to sign and then it is law.

 

PA Legislators passed the Doorless Law July 3rd it now goes to the Gov's Desk for Signing ... fingers crossed. Must have Side Mirrors is part of the regulation. (I see it was being discussed, my apologies for repeating)

 

I was "layed on the table" as they never found time to vote on it as they were in session doing budget fights last year ... looks like Robinson(R) gave it the final push and got it to the floor

 

Governor signed on July15,2024. It is now official.

On Facebook I saw September 13. I think the Facebook group is counting from signature.

While I think it is awesome to finally be legal, I am not worrying about the difference. My doors have been off since June 1. I have been pulled over once in 5 years for it.
