Had my engine 4.0 rebuilt. Installed it and now i need to prime the oil pump. I was gonna try the electric drill with a long screw driver. Do I go clockwise when drilling ? ...also, anyone try priming with just cranking the motor with fuel rely out ? My dad rebuilt a little toyota motor and that's how he primed his.

Prime it by using a heavy duty drill, go clockwise, same direction as distribution rotation. And then immediately start it after the distributor install.
Not sold on the long screwdriver idea, I'd use a proper tool for this job.

Priming by cranking the motor will be fine also. Just that the assembly lube is being forced out by all the cranking. Not sure if that matters. Just a new engine first start paranoia thing.

You do know to use break-in oil right?

I use a old 258 distributor shaft in a 3/8" drill to prime pumps on my jeep inlines
