I have a 2017 Wrangler Willys and the radio went bad. (Surprise, right?)
I purchased a used radio on FB marketplace and installed. (Super easy.)
I am not getting the prompt to enter the security code. Does that mean the replacement radio is bad as well?

I took instructions that I found on here to my dealer and they had no idea what to do as far as clearing the original VIN from the replacement radio.

Should have just bought an aftermarket. :(

Thoughts??

Your code is built in to the radio itself and is not available in the original buyer paperwork, nor can it be accessed via the popular J-Scan app. You would have to be able to get the dealer to work with you on this. Does this replacement unit even power on?

Your model is the 130 based upon the YT screenshot.

When I installed the replacement unit the lights came on as soon as I plugged it in. Now the lights only come on when I press the time button. I was at the dealer this morning with detailed instructions (found on here) on how to unlock my radio and they were no help. They said my radio was bad because it wasn't asking for the security code.

Hard to belive they had no idea what to do about retrieving the code but i think they are correct about it being dead.

If the radio is plugged in and you push the power button it should ask for a code assuming it says ANTI-THEFT on the front of the radio. if it doesn't say anti-theft it's an older model that doesn't require a code

I was able to get my original radio repaired.

The used radio that I had purchased off FB marketplace was from a Jeep Patriot. Although it looked identical to my Wrangler radio, it performed at a different speed than my Wrangler radio and would have never worked in my Jeep. So, although all these radios appear the same... From Caravans, Rams, Patriots, whatever... They are not. There are two speeds to these radios and Wranglers need the high speed version.

Was just going to ask if you bought a high bus speed radio. As you replied, you got a low speed radio and it will not function in a JK.
