Hi There,

Original owner of a 2012 JKU. Got around 60K miles on it as my DD.

I have literally just gotten oil changes on it since I have owned it. (Changed my front brakes....that's it)

Last time at the dealership (which I have had very good experiences with) they suggested a transfer fluid change?

Anyways:

What service do you suggest I should get? I haven't even changed an air filter!! But please be understanding, I had a newborn (2 kids total) the same week I bought the JKU so I am just now dedicating more time to my third kid (the jeep).:happyyes:

There is a maintenance schedule in the back of your Users Guide. If you do not have yours, here is a link to the Jeep Archive where you can download your manuals.

Jeep Owners | Download an Owners Manual 2004 - 2011 | Jeep

I downloaded all of mine, for 2015 the Operators Manual is on a DVD and the downloaded one is easier to use, plus it's on the computer so it's always available.

Your scheduled services are at 8,000 mile intervals, so you are between the 56K and 64K services. You should have the fluid in the transfer case inspected, obviously the oil change, replace oil and air filters, wouldn't hurt to check the lube in the F&R differentials, check the coolant, etc, etc. Basically just everything that is/was due between the time you bought the vehicle and the next service.

I don't know who you are having service the vehicle, the dealer will come up with a list and premium pricing. If you have a trusted mechanic, you can give him the list, what the budget is and with his advise prioritize the services. The checking of fluids in the TX case and diffs, is just to make sure it is still viable and is at or near full. They pull the filler plug, stick a finger in and check it.

Most dealers will do a thorough inspection of the underside of the vehicle while it is up on the lift being lubed and having the oil changed. Mine does this and attaches the inspection sheet to the back of my service order. I also get periodic e-mails with coupons for special pricing. I like to use my dealer for two different types of service, 1. The periodic inspection with the lube/oil change. They have the manual and as I said give me the list. 2. Items that cannot be done anywhere else. For things like brakes, I usually let my tire dealer take care of that.

Hope this helps.

You can replace the air and cabin filters yourself. You can also change the trans., trans. filter if you have an auto., transfer case and dif. fluids, which are pretty easy to do. If you prefer not to do it have a local shop take care of it. Due to your time/mileage, this is what I suggest. After 3 years you also might want to consider swapping out the oem battery.

I just passed 60k on my '12 and this is what I did...

-Oil Change (I do mine every 5k with full synthetic)
-Changed Differential Fluids : Really an easy job and you can save a lot of $$ doing it yourself. Here is a good write-up.
-Changed Transfer Case Fluid, also an easy DIY. Write-Up Here
-Checked coolant (I would have flushed but mine was replaced at 30k)
-Checked air filter (Looked clean so did not replace)
-Checked battery at the local Auto-Zone, checked ok but am keeping my eye on this before winter.
-Checked the belt for wear and tear, looked good.
-Rotated the tires (5 tire @ every oil change)
