Hi All....Have 2012 JK with 55k on it, just noticed a puff of blue smoke on start up for a couple times. No codes showing. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Check oil and coolant levels. Also make sure both of them are not contaminated with the other. If your consuming either, your levels will eventually lower to a noticeable level, but it may take periodic checking.

If you’re consuming oil or coolant, you do. But if it’s the coolant, there’s a good chance it may be under warranty, due to the 2012 head issues.

Or, it simply could be extra fuel on cold start, or moisture being pushed out exhaust, it’s hard to say without seeing person.

Carefully monitor oil levels (dropping oil levels would suggest oil consumption, or a leak). While you are at it, look for any whitish or rusty deposits on the dipstick or on the underside of the oil fill cap- whitish deposits would suggest coolant getting into the oil somewhere.

No regular oil loss, clean looking oil with no deposits in that oil means a relatively healthy engine, which equals less to worry about.

Coolant will normally give a whitish smoke according to many posts on the forum. Oil is well known for blue smelly smoke.

A few puffs or only a short amount of smoke will probably not be detectable in loss on the dip stick, until you put a lot of miles on it since the last change.

As BANGER said, could be valve seals. Shut the engine down and the remaining oil that has been splashing around inside the valve cover sits in the low spots. Over time the bad seal(s) allows seepage into the cylinder(s) and at startup is quickly burned away. Generally if it smokes at startup "valve stem seals" or if it smokes when revving "piston rings".

valve seals/guides.
I would not worry unless it gets bad
