The only new vehicle I've ever bought new was a 1988 Comanche, that truck was awesome. When I heard Jeep was bringing back the PU, I made up my mind I would buy one. I didn't. It really would not be useful to me. Of course your needs are going to different. But to me it was in no mans land size wise. It's way bigger than a Wrangler, it wouldn't be able to do some trails around here. But it's really not all that useful as a pickup, the bed is small, and as I recall, although I should look it up, the payload was nothing special. I bought another Wrangler and I'm happy. If I need a truck I'd probably look at something with a bigger bed. You'll have to decide how you are going to use it.

The sweet spot might be a Gladiator 2 door regular cab with a standard size bed. That would interest me. But as stated, the bed just isn’t big enough to be useful to me. So I keep the Jeep and have a cargo trailer.

Talked my step son into a Gladiator Rubicon (I have a JKU Rubicon). He is so glad he got it. He came from a Tacoma TRD Offroad (one locker).
They are not too big, and not too small. I agree that a 2 dooor would look and perform real nice, it isn't likely to happen. I am now in the hunt for one. I really like the Rubicon and when I find one with the options I'll pick it up. If I don't see one by the 23 model year I guess I'll have to order one.

Just order it. By the time you delete the crap you don't want and add the stuff you do it will be cheaper. I should have ordered my '21 Wrangler.

Consider adding a '98ish-'10ish v8 pickup to the fleet. One with about 120k miles. The depreciation has already done its dirty work and you have a truck when you need it. I bought my '04 Diesel about 6-7 years ago for $10.5k with 160k miles. I don't drive it every single month, but it is there when I need it and it wasn't $50k.

I love Jeeps but...Truck truck truck, buy a Gladiator because you want one, not because you want or need a truck, I would pit any one of the many trucks I've owned against a Gladiator to pull, haul, and just overall ability to do what a truck needs to do any day of the week.
It all depends like previously stated, what you need the vehicle to do, don't get caught up in the "I have to buy all things Jeep" or I'm not loyal to the brand guy, get what you will be happy with but will do what you need it to do.

I think probably the best APP for a Gladiator is overlanding, my preference leans towards suv's. A Grand or Lexus GX. Same with light/med towing. I just find suv's much more useful as an all around vehicle. I'm sure you'd be happy with the Glad, but, and I sorta hate to say this, when I was looking at trucks, the one I liked best was late model/low miles ProX 4. You can buy one for 1/2 the price of a new glad. In my book the less I pay the more compromises I can live with. For what it's worth I wound up with a LJ, traded that a year ago for a 2drJKR.

I see no use or reason for a 2 door Gladiator but that's just me. I have seen some very nice and well done rigs. That said, the only 2 people I personally know who own them - one a colleague and one a very good friend - one says his is awesome (colleague) and after a 5 minute conversation I could easily tell he had no idea what he was talking about - and my very good friend said his was not very good, too light in the rear and slid out on him constantly. He had it for 6 months and let it go.

This cap (may only be available in Canada though) almost had me. It gives it almost that late 90's early 00's 4runner look.

I think I'm going for a 392 though. I can't pass up the limited chance to get an 8 cylinder from the factory.

Jeep renewed the trademark on the “scrambler”. I’m hoping that means a 2 door will be available some day.
I don’t need a 4 passenger vehicle and the shorter wheelbase will go a lot more places.

I would already have one if it was a single cab.

I have one which is often my daily driver. I also have a Silverado with an 8' bed, some some 2dr wranglers 4dr wranglers.
The Gladiator is pretty long, a bit harder to park than the wrangler. Upside is you can haul crap like stone, sand, and lumber and not ruin the interior.
Like a Wrangler, it will generally go anywhere, so it's better than a full size pickup in that regard.

With the gate down, it hauls nicely.
Mine most often has a single occupant, if they offered it in a four door, I'd get one of those.

If you're looking for a full-size truck then the Gladiator is NOT what you want - it's a MID-size truck and as such is a decent offering in that segment.

OR you need to haul dirtbikes and stuff but also want a badass offroader. Because it's a truck that is also 75% of a Wrangler. I used the piss out of my mini trucks. Even as a 3/4 ton owner I used my last little Ranger A LOT. The gladiator is ugly as piss but I think it's a great package for a lot of people.

Say someone is considering buying a Wrangler or a full-size Pickup. Is a Gladiator the best of both worlds? Let's hear your opinion!
I have a 2012 wrangler. Love it. I traded my 2019 Chev Trail Boss for a 2020 Gladiator mostly because the dealer gave me more than i paid for the trail boss. Only kept the Gladiator 5 months. Traded it back for 2020 Trail Boss again and again got more for the jeep. It was just to small for me. Id have kept it but the crazy prices helped me try.

I’d easily buy the gladiator if it came with the 5.7L and cost what the base ram 1500 tradesman does at 38k. They’re the same weight so I’m not sure why Jeep thought it was a good idea to have the 3.6l engine in it. Plus it’s a mid size and I’m not sure on what world a midsize should be as expensive as a full size… but that is a problem for all truck manufacturers. Paying full size price for full size fuel economy but mid size pay load and mid size horsepower is ridiculous, this applies to Jeep/ram Ford Chevy Toyota and gmc.
