My dad is a welder and fabricator and told me if I came to him with a design, blueprints per say, for a bumper he'd build it for me. Currently, I have the stock front bumper and a rear tube bumper the PO put on right before I bought it. I'd like to replace both.
For the front bumper, I was looking to go with something like this: Bestop® HighRock 4x4™ Narrow Front Bumper for 97-06 Jeep® Wrangler TJ & Unlimited | Quadratec
And for the rear bumper something like this:
Poison Spyder 14-61-030 BFH II Rear Bumper for 97-06 Jeep® Wrangler TJ & Unlimited | Quadratec
It's worth noting that I have an 04 TJ with nonift currently, so weighing it down is a concern of mine.
So my questions are, has anyone built their own bumpers before? What are some general rules of thumb? What material did you use? What you would advise me to do?
Thanks in advance!
