Whats the difference between the Sport model and the X model? I am looking at a 2005 Wrangler Sport tomorrow and i originally thought it was an X model. It has auto,ac,cc,cd,4.0,soft top, and a few aftermarket extras...price is just under 15k....i apologize if this is a repost i tried searching....thanks in advance!

The X is a slightly more stripped down version of the Sport, either can have the Dana 44 rear axle upgrade.

You can tell which rear axle it has by looking at it, from the below photos. The weaker Dana 35c has a perfectly oval cover with a snap-in black plastic lubricant fill hole plug.

The much (!) stronger Dana 44 has a nearly stop-sign shaped differential cover with a threaded steel bolt in its differential fill hole.

Dana 35c on the left, Dana 44 on the right.

The VIN doesn't tell you whether you have a Dana 44 or Dana 35.
If you use a vin look up like the one I provided above yes it does. Along with every option from the factory.

That site is unbelievable. Many don't know about it (Jerry :) ) it list everything as far as I can see.
Pass it along to everyone. It has helped a lot of people so far, especially in what axle and gear ratio.

It's so awesome, in fact...after I initially ran my Jeep's VIN on it last week, I emailed Chrysler to get the build sheet (thinking it would be different, or more certificate-y) - and they emailed me the exact same info. Very, very cool site! If only it did pre-80s, too...

Dana 30/186mm, 4.10 gears

175mm rear axle

does this mean my rear is also a dana 30? what does the MM mean? I am assuming some type of measurement in milimeters? my axles are different shapes on the acutal jeep.
Yeah, sometimes it list axle and sometimes list the measurements. If unsure a google search of measurement will let you know which axle you have.
