Anyone have a Review on the Bestop Trektop Pro Hybrid? I love the hybrid look. Was going to get a Sunrider top for my hardtop anyways and I feel I might be able to get a new top (Sell my Hardtop) and save a little bit plus get a new look.

Any reviews????

I sold my hardtop for a Trektop Pro. I would do it again, I love this top. It's not really louder than a hardtop until you go above ~50mph. It leaked one time when we had a bad storm, think I might have something not seated 100%, still has fewer leaks than my hardtop and it's only done it once so far. If you don't fold the sunrider correct it can sag over the rear seats. Heres a thread I started when I switched.

Sold my hardtop
does the sunrises function allow the second row to be open as well to the sun?

I have the top and I've had it installed for around 6 months. I've never had a leak and I had the dealer install the rear wiper wiring.

Pros:
1) It's like having the benefits of both a soft and hard top.
2)The sunrider feature is great. In a few seconds you can pull the top back and you're good to go.
3)No plastic Windows to worry about.
4)Extremely well made and fits perfectly.

Cons:
1) You'll have to take it completely apart to go topless. Not an easy thing to do. You can remove the windows and rear window but you'll still have the plastic halo piece over the rear.
2) Maybe it's just mine but the rear wiper doesn't clean the glass well. It just kinda leaves a smear of water but I guess it's better than nothing.

Overall it's a great top.

The 'Halo' is intended to remain in place when taking the top off. I have the wiper also and it doesn't do very well, the wiper blade itself feels really cheap but I am going to get a better wiper blade and put on there, then it should clean like the OEM rear wiper.

Have one on my wife's Jeep for about 6-8 months now. I give it a thumbs up. The glass is killer. And as mentioned you can pull the side windows and back window and remove the top quite easily, but leave the Halo in place. That is a pain to remove and install. That is the ONLY con, but it is not that big of a deal to us. The roll bar with padding is about four inches wide, the Halo is about six inches wide. So the folks that complain about the halo is complaining about two inches...

I have a Trek NX Twill on my Jeep and I honestly cannot say which I like better. Both look and function perfectly. Different, but both are great.

I watched the video before the install and also during the install, it was an easy install for me and went very smooth. Bestop has a very good install video, but it was time consuming took me about 3 1/2 hours completely by myself and first ever softop install.

Also. Taking this too off is so easy when you want a change.

No zippers. No headache quick disconnect sunrider feature.

With the glass back window, side windows and complete top.... It's about a 10 min job.

Going back together. Maybe 20-25 minutes.

After you get the main structure in place (halo) taking it on and off is a breeze.

I'm in NH and its get damned cold and snowy during the winter months. Does anyone here have experience with the Pro in a sustained harsh winter climate?

Editing this post just to say that I'd like to keep it in place all year round if possible. That way I'd never have to struggle with removing and replacing the hardtop, and could open it up all year when things are sunny enough. Best of both worlds. Sounds too good to be true though doesnt it?

Didn't see this message.

Mine is a year round top. I wouldn't let it pile up with excess snow. Just like I wouldn't with the factory soft tops.

Otherwise I had no issues last year in central illinois

I just got the top and installed it last weekend. Definitely took 3 1/2 hours but not too difficult to assemble. I absolutely love the look of it and the glass back is so much better than the scratched up vinyl window I used to have.

One question. What's the best way of flipping the top back. With my old soft top I used to do the "w" but when I flipped the trek top back about 20 mins in the fabric suddenly landed in my back seat completely blocking my view. I know it's user-error but I wondered what the best way of arranging it so that it stays where it's supposed to

I heard about this happening to people with the reviews on Amazon but it's never happens to me (owned it for 2 months). I get a little worried when I'm on the highway but on side streets there isn't an issue. I have folded it back a couple of times where over the back seat is opened as well. Not sure if it's designed to do that but that may be an option for you.

I bought one to use as a winter top. The glass and rear defroster is great and it uses less storage space than a hardtop when removed. I put my OEM soft top back on for the summer for 3 reasons.
1: My soft top keeps water out much better than the Trektop Pro for the summer storms.
2: Is much easier to put the top down.
3: I can easily carry the the windows with me if rain is in the forecast.

Did mine myself and it took about 3.5 hours, and that included removing the old soft top. Used Bestop's video...perfect. Super happy and mine is water tight. I was not happy with how the top 'flapped' in the wind, and fell into the back seat also, when I flipped it back. On another forum, that I can't find for the life of me, somebody talked about a Velcro strap the devised to hold down the top. I didn't want to undo it every time so I came up with what you see in the pictures. At first I was going to use elastic but realized it would wear out and lose its stretch over time. So I went with a spring; not a strong one, I think it's a 2lb pull, but I am very happy. It always stays connected, does not affect the way the top sits on the front support bar, and the strap holds the flipped back top perfectly, no matter what the speed. I do plan on moving the back hold point in front of the interior light, because with it mounted in the current position too much of the light is covered.

Trektop pro

Don’t know if the link works but if you google “crushed red pepper trektop pro” you will see a facebook video from Sema 2017 with a trektop pro. It has a sunrider that operates like the NX PLUS. It has a front bow that opens and folds the top all done from inside. Completely different from what I have seen on videos or pictures. Has anyone seen this before?

not sure about 2.0

I just installed mine after purchasing from Amazon with free shipping. I'm not sure if it's the 2.0. How does one tell? I only have a week of limited driving with it so I will not give a full review at this time. Here's what I can say:

Install wasn't awful but there are 2 or 3 spots where having a pal around to help is nice.

The warmer the weather the easier it will be to stretch the fabric. It was in the upper 50s and not sunny when I stretched mine on and it was the worst part of the whole install. I nearly ripped out a finger nail when my hand slipped. I would advise getting it stretched as far as it will go, let it sit, stretch it more and let it rest and you will get these eventually, just keep alternating.

Noise is no worse than my hardtop until 55-60 MPH and even then I'm not totally convinced it's worse.

Visibility is amazing. I love the window configuration.

Somehow the handling in my 2-door seems better with this top on as opposed to my hardtop. Not sure if that is just in my head or if it really makes a difference.

Finally it just looks amazing. It really changes the whole look of the jeep. I did NOT buy this for the looks but have been pleasantly surprised at what an upgrade it has been.

I got the 2.0 version in tan for my Jku. I have had it for about 6 months. I ordered it last March but since it was a tan one it was back ordered and then there was mixup in shipping that delayed getting it until the end of August.

So far the top has worked perfect. No leaks and the it’s only a little noisier than my hardtop. The sunrider works well. I think they changed the design to address some of the complaints of the sunrider collapsing into the rear seat area when going down the highway . I have driven multiple times with the sunrider open going 60+. No issues.

The new design also doesn’t have a bow over the front seats as it is integrated into the sunrider. I can open and close the sun rider with me hand.

I think the new version of the sunrider doesn’t open as far back as the previous version, but it still opens enough to be totally open over the front seats.

The sunrider doesn’t close easily with spider sunshade installed. The cords for the speed balls get in the way for some reason. Not a big deal but it trip me up during the install.

The rear glass works great.

Looking forward to spring when I can completely remove the top. I do wish it could just be ones like the trektop NX and Glide, but one apparently can’t have everything.

My only complaint is it is bit difficult to remove the rear halo, so I am not inclined the remove it to put the hardtop on for the winter. But I have been using here in Northern Virginia during the winter without any issues, so for mild 4 season climates it works fine as a full time top.

The bestop customer support was great. I bought it via quadratec and they were great too.

Overall very happy with it.

I had one on my '13 JKU, I loved it. It was quiet, didn't leak, easy to remove.
As soon as my factory top is done I'll be getting another one.
