I saw the same video and was wondering about it. I usually do normal/short oil change intervals compared to modern cars. I may try it in my Jeep next time I buy oil.

Apparently OP of that BITOG thread never came back. Not holding my breath.

he got cold feet.

Changed my mind on using the new Valvoline in the new ford edge. I'll let others be the guinea pig for a bit. Today I did the change and put in mobil 1 5w30 ESP. ESP should be a great match from what the experts say on here. On the way out of the store I saw a guy with a pretty new f150 eco boost and he had 0w30 ESP, so It must be getting popular for eco boost owners now that it is SP rated. The 0w doesn't say it on the bottle though but the website does. The 5w has a lot of hard to meet approvals on the bottle and SP should make ford happy too, I hope.

I think if you have an engine in need of a cleaning it is worth a shot, imo. Maybe for a sticking lifter, or oil consumption due to the rings being coked up it could be worth a try.

FTR- It is going to take more than one oil change interval to work, if it works at all. I'm not a fan of engine flushes, so if I had a problem like the two I mentioned I would give it a try. In a healthy well maintained engine there is no need for it.

I have a YJ and the youngest of them is 30YO. Many of them suffer from deferred maintenance, so the engines get gunked up due to long periods between oil changes (if the oil gets changed at all). I bought mine with 150K miles and it had an occasional lifter clack upon cold starts. It went away as the oil pressure built up. A couple Seafoam treatments cured the clack.
If I was concerned about having crud inside my motor, I'd use something that I know works.

New technology is coming out all the time, including in the motor oil industry. For me, it's wait and see if this stupp works.
I could only watch the beginning of the video. Then I had to shut it off.

Good Luck, L.M.
