Twice on the weekend I was out driving, and after coming to a complete stop, placed the auto-transmission into PARK, jumped out of the jeep (with the engin still running), then upon getting back in the jeep - couldn't get it to drive forward? The shifter moves into DRIVE, no resistance, no noises, no indications anything is wrong.
On both instances I got the EVIC onscreen warning that a door was open, immediately followed by "vehicle not in park" message?
The engine is still running and I'm moving the shifter from Park to Drive but nothing happens when I step on the gas. The only way to solve the problem was to shift back into Park, turn off the jeep - then turn it back on.
What is going on and is it something I'm doing wrong? Both instances I was on level ground. Anyone else experience this?
The second instance I was creeping the jeep forward a few inches and had the door legetimately open so I could watch the ground... so I know the door warning message was legit. How does this all relate to "not in park"???
