Can someone explain the differences between these 2 radios? I can't seem to find any tech info comparing the 2. I know the head units are vastly different and the 430 does all sorts of fancy stuff, but is the amplification and sound better on the 430 vs the 130? Factory speakers different between the 2 radios. Trying to make my decision when ordering. I like music but not into it as much as some of you guys (ok, im old!)

I was told by my dealer that the sound quality is the same and that the principal difference between the two is that the 430 has a hard drive where you can permanently store kazillions of your tunes. If I am wrong, someone please chime in.

I am old too (has nothing to do with one's love of music), music is my passion and I won't tolerate poor sound. With the 130 you can Bluetooth or plug into your IPhone/IPad ITunes, play CDs and listen to your radio. I can't justify the cost of the 430 personally and did not order on my 2016. With the money saved, I can download more ITunes songs from Apple onto my IPhone and IPad.

After looking and comparing, there was little doubt I'd be getting an aftermarket HU.

I settled on the Pioneer 4100NEX when my 2016 comes in. I like the detachable faceplate since I'm only getting a softtop. The Pioneer App 4 is about $100 less but no CD/DVD player, and no fetch able faceplate. There is a similar Alpin if you prefer that.

But I think phone integration is to the point, I know I want that.

The previous posters pretty much have it summed up. I just wanted to add that there is a major difference between the stock speakers (regardless of radio) and the Alpine speaker option. The Alpine upgrade has better amplification and speakers, and those who get it tend to love it.

Yep, thanks. I failed to mention that. I got the 130 with the Alpine speaker option. In my mind, that's the best option on a 2016 for the audiophile watching his budget. Either that or go after-market.

How could you buy a new Wrangler and not first join this forum! And it's all free! I have learned so much on other Wrangler issues. Thank you all.

When I ordered my '15 Hardrock I pondered (for a couple minutes) not even realizing my HR was coming with the upgraded Alpine Speakers, Connectivity, etc.
I was surprised when it showed up, buncha stuff I did not know it would have.
Anyway, the 130 w/the Upgraded speakers is the way to go IMO. Why?
For the $$ of an ungraded HU, get a good one aftermarket (Alpine) and double your voltage output as well as get a back-up camera. Nav, I use my phone.

Had the u430 non-nav unit not been available, I'd have ordered my 15 Willys with the 130. The 430 is nothing really special, but I wanted the hard drive and touchscreen. The touchscreen is pretty disappointing and is not user friendly at all. I only paid like $450ish for the 430, which isn't horrble, but in retrospect, I'd prefer to have put that money into a nice aftermarket unit and just got 130 for free. Additionally, my 430 has issues. Sometimes it resets itself when I start the jeep. It doesn't lose any presets, but it turns on to the off screen, erases my eq settings and goes straight to AM radio no matter what I had it on when I shut the Jeep off. It's more annoying than anything, but figured I mention it.

I've got the 130 w/ the Alpine speakers and they sound great, along with the Connectivity Package/Group. No regrets and with the $ saved, those funds went towards some MOD's. I did do the tweeter mod, which added even more richness. Bluetooth and Spotify thru my iPhone works wonders.

See ya on the Trail!!!

I am with ya. With the money saved I plan to replace the stock 2016 headlights with Quadretics, install a foot rest, lock box, etc. Stuff I can really use. I can't believe how many GPS apps there are now for your IPhone and Droid and they work. And a good Garman mount-it unit can be had for $150 on Amazon.

The connectivity group gives you a USB port in the center console no matter what head unit you get.

About $1100. Huge waste of money, in my opinion. I have a $150 Garmin from Costco for the few times I need it. For off road, I use an iPad Air 2 with Gaia topo, which is vastly superior to any in dash nav. My 130 sounds the same as any other radio, not that I bought a Jeep to listen to music on the trail.
