love the Jeep's 'old fashioned' key. Don't want a push button start.
old fashioned? the thing is a monster... its is huge with plastic...
I want a real set of keys for my jeep... like these:
Image

  • no battery to go bad...
  • no goofy codes
  • no electronics to get wet...
  • getting a new set made cost $1
  • they just work...

sure, they may leave the vehicle slightly easier to steal, but hey everything has its trade offs/compromises...

Let the other vehicles adopt the new swanky technologies...keep the wrangler classic and functional. It's what sets us apart.

Personally, I hate "technology" for the sake of technology.
mostly agree, but I do like the new radio/nav stuff...
and the electric window wipers are amazing... much better than the old crank handle type on the old jeeps...

Anti-lock brakes and traction control are good examples. Although they make vehicles "safer", they also encourage people to drive "more stupid"!
they really don't...
what they do allow is for more stupid people to live longer and cause more/better damage over the course of their life time...
they also allow lazy people to not need to learn how to actually drive...
but they don't technically encourage anything...

but then again, I do kind of like traction control... it does make life easier...
ABS I can take or leave... wheel sensor went out on my old truck... pulled ABS fuse and did not miss ABS for 3 years or so... finally got around to fixing, and didn't care that it was back...

I guess you all would hate my 1942 MB, because it has a push button start :flipoff: About 75 years ahead of it's time I guess LOL.
nah, the old jeeps didn't have a FOB (well not a plastic key FOB at least) that could get wet, smashed, cracked, lost, etc rendering the advanced electronic garbly **** (technical term) in the push button completely useless...

the push buttons on the old jeeps just worked...
no matter what...
and no matter who pushed them.... (ok, so this may be one minor down side...)

True about military vehicles...
But not entirely the same system...

Also, I would imagine the military is less concerned about theft and more concerned about getting shot or blown up... Kind of a slightly different usage scenario then a civilian vehicle... Unless you live in Chicago... Then it's a toss up...
