Please read the below, from our WF Rules and Regulations!!!

Dealer/Vendor and Customer Disputes: This forum is not intended to be a mechanism for people to vent frustrations about vendors or sales from private parties. Please settle your differences with sellers, manufacturers and dealers through the long-established legal or arbitration systems or the Better Business Bureau but not through our community.

I understand the need for this rule, but how then does one communicate to others on this forum the valuable information about a "bad" product? Personally, I'd rather learn this prior to spending my hard earned cash. I'd much rather read threads on this than how often someone washes their Jeep.

I think the OP could change his title to "why you should never buy chrome rims for your rig period", but I agree with what your saying. 90% of the threads on this forum wouldn't be here if this rule was followed. People brand bash all day on here when it comes to lifts, winches, bumpers, etc.....

I feel like the OP did his best to work it out with the vendor with no dice to his favor first before posting. So he was just informing us of his experience. I appreciate threads like this because it gives others a chance to also voice their good experiences with that same vendor and it allows the reader to come to our own conclusions. I agree at times threads can get a little out of hand but if they start to censor them to this extent it will ruin a lot of what this forum could be. Let the discussion take place so long as its civil and legitimate.

@Spud100 thread title speaks for itself.

Back to fuel wheels. I had 17" Mavericks and hated them. Plastic center cap is crap. Scratches the finish and valve stem is in between the spokes. If I had to go back to fuel, I'd choose anza or trophy. I can't stand their center cap that covers the wheel studs.

Being part of a company that sells Fuel wheels, (and an owner of Fuel wheels on my F150) it sounds like the OP had a case of wrong wheels at the wrong time. While the wheels are covered by the manufactures warranty, with the wheels being discontinued it sounds like there isn't much Fuel could do. Maybe offer new wheels (which I doubt they'd do) or maybe some sort of credit towards a new set. But again, this is a matter that should be further discussed with the manufacturer or whomever sold the OP the wheels.

better name for the thread would be "why you should never buy chrome wheels" and an appropriate response would be " why in god's holy name would you put chrome on a jeep"

He said guys he never drives off road...So why not have chrome, I would too.
The good news is...You can got to a shop and get it re dipped in chrome and it will be like new...
Dont give up...
Also as far as Bashing...

I see plenty of folks on here Raving about certain products whether they are the vendor or just impressed...
I see no reason it could not have been named Never buy Chrome Rims from Fuel Wheels...

Hard to not be pissed when you spend that much cash to have the finish peel off. I don't see it as a bashing thread, I don't judge a brand on one thread; I look for multiple opinions.

Very few shops chrome dip anymore. Had a set done last week, had to send them all the way to California, cost 350 a wheel.

May want to have them sandblasted and powder coated. They have a "near chrome" powder they can use. Looks like high polished aluminum.

I wonder if thats to be expected. The chrome that is coming off is on the spare at the bottom where dirt, salt and grim would collect, particularly over the winter. Sucks it happened, its his rig and he should build it how he wants but with how wide and flat that lip is it looks like it would collect and hold water back there.

Well first of all I will go ahead and say my jeep pretty much is a beach cruiser.... Panama City Beach to be exact.... Nor do I have the time to go offroad because my jeep has spent its entire life at a dock because i am always running my other rig... (165foot 8000hp boat) and i agree that chrome isnt as popular but i wouldnt say out of style...

So your Jeep sits at the beach/dock all the time? Where I'm sure there's a fair amount of salt in the air all the time blowing around? Sounds like we may have found the source of the problem.

I had a bad experience with Fuel as well.

I have the Polished Silver Kranks, the Clearcoat started to discolor / oxidize, in less than a year. Took them back where I got them, they said that's not normal, retailer contacted Fuel, Fuel said they wanted to see pictures, we sent pics to Fuel, they said it was from neglect / not keeping them clean, and there was nothing they could do...but if I wanted to buy a new set of Wheels, they'd take 10% off. WHAT A JOKE!! Even the place I got them from couldn't believe it. The truck they were on got fully washed atleast 2x a week, whether it was driven or not, it got washed. So there was 0 neglect to the wheels.

Needless to say, the wheels are now Plasti Dipped and look better than they did new.

Here's my take on Fuel Wheels now...when they first came out, they were a good company, would sell some wheels here and there, just like any other company. Then, the "scene" took off with everyone wanting a 22x14, 24x14 ect... So now they can't keep up with the demand, so what happens? They just mass produce them, turn and burn, as fast as they can, to keep the market flooded, and the QC goes down the toilet.

I like to keep my paint looking good, too... But two washes a week seems a tad on the ridiculous side...

Do people get off on bashing other people's rigs? It his damn jeep. let him do what he wants to it. if he likes chrome, good for him.

Now, as far as the chrome goes, perhaps it could be the salt in the air, but if it was, then ALL wheels would most likely have this issue... especially the spare since it just sits and doesnt rotate...

I would take a guess and say that this specific wheel was not prepped correctly and is peeling. As others have said, you could always take it to a custom wheel shop and have them re-chrome it for like 300 bucks or something if you truly wanted it. OR bitch at fuel and get credit towards new wheels. up to you.

I like chrome wheels but they are really only for sunny summer day cruisers. They are a ton of work and don't stay looking good unless polished and waxed often. Even my buddies OEM Ford Escape chrome wheels looked like crap after one winter because he didn't put in the work to keep them looking good. They are what they are and they are all the same. On a daily driver you are much better off with a polished wheel with clear coat or a powder coated wheel. If you like them have them re-chromed. It will be better quality, thicker and last longer.
