I purchased a Wild Boar Snorkel ( Wild Boar Snorkel ) It was $250 shipped, usual price is $585. It took about 1.5 weeks to arrive. I was satisfied with the ease of purchase and their communication (email receipt and shipping confirmation with tracking number).

I don't plan on crossing high water but I like the way snorkels look and also like the protection of not hydrolocking the motor due to excessive water splash from flooded streets.

It came in a large box and everything was packaged well. There was no damage to the outside of box or any of the parts.

The instructions were good but not great. There was a missing diagram picture. The instructions are based on a 2012-2017 JK. I have a 09 JK. The only difference with installation is the adapter that attaches tubing (in engine bay) to the air filter box. Wild Boar included 2 different adapters (depending on what generation JK you have). Be nice if they included two different types of instructions. There is only 27 steps in the instructions but 3 of them don't apply to my Jeep.

The only tools you will need for install are standard and metric sockets or wrenches, a round 3 5/8 inch hole saw and an electric drill. Everything else is included in the box.

I am not a mechanic but I know my way around wrenches and understand basic concepts of how vehicles work.

I will include all the pictures I have. While installing I pressed on time so taking pictures wasn't high on my priority list. I will also take pics of the instructions (since they're impossible to find online).

The only flaws I see are 1) there is no water drainage holes in snorkel. If water gets in snorkel the only drainage holes are in the factory air filter box. 2) no way to add a prefilter.

The entire install took 6 hrs.
If y'all have any questions feel free to ask.

Interesting install. I have a RR Snorkel and have a few questions for you on the install. I have a 2013 and the install took about 7 hours so we are similar. I am wondering how the factory airbox works with the install. I know on my install I had to do some silicone work to make sure holes are sealed.
I don't do deep water crossings either, my intent of installing the snorkel is for dust reduction on trail rides and it works great with my prefilter. It also has the protection from water in the box by design. I also think a snorkel works with a Jeep and it looks good. Can't put one on a Tahoe!

I wish you good luck with your new upgrade. Take care.

I was considering the RuggedRidge snorkel but this was at a good price, I figured I'd buy the wild boar first.

There are two attachments that come with the snorkel, only need one but which one depends on the year of your Jeep. It attaches to the (L) side of the factory air filter box. There was some silicone included in the snorkel kit so I used that after I snapped it onto the air filter. I then sprayed a trace amount of flex seal sealant over the silicone just as a precautionary measure.

Were you able to trim your vent box sufficiently to avoid the wire tube from being compressed at all? I think mine is being pressed into a bit of an oval and that might be constricting the air flow.

Perhaps a better question is whether your snorkel makes a really loud hissing sound from your glove box when you pass 2500 rpms. Mine does, but I think it's because it's sucking air from around the tube because it can't handle the air flow being somewhat crimped.

Did you seal the wire tube's connection to the joint in the firewall? I did not, so maybe it's pulling from around the tube there.

Everything I put in bold, I'm not sure what you mean?
My snorkel makes no noise at all.

The tube that runs into the snorkel... it's surrounded with steel wire...

anyway, the instructions said to slip it into the plastic junction piece that connects to and passes through the firewall... but it's not airtight, so I'm wondering if you taped or sealed that connection in some way.

FWIW, I think my flexible, wired pipe was just faulty and was collapsing at the end, restricting air flow. I pulled it down last night, installed it the reverse way, and it's working without hissing. Keeping my fingers crossed.
