I love these taillights, but I read in another thread that they were too flat looking on the back end. When you can get regular led taillights for much cheaper elsewhere. But! I'd still get them no matter what anyone else says brcause they are sick.

I think one of the vendors on this site could do very well offering the JW headlights, fogs, and tail lights in one package deal. The forum vendors I've reached out to so far did not seem to be aware of this product.

I have mixed thoughts on those. I'd have to see them on Jeep before purchasing. Maybe it's just the pic but the housing almost looks more grey than black...

...and just looked on their Facebook page. NICE!!! No more mixed thoughts!!

Check out Hilldweller's Jeep - he's been running them for a while and loves them.

@Hilldweller was there any splicing involved. I have a vague memory of your initial install. Can you refresh our memory. I'm sure splicing doesn't equate to true plug and play.

They obviously look "Different" than stock and I have heard the "Red" is more vivid than stock BUT is anything demonstatively Better with these than stock or are they simply something to Mod/spend money on?
Not being smart just wanting to "get it" before getting them....

As an example, I could really USE a Brighter Back Up light - Will these do that?

They do look awesome.

I'm generally not a "keep it stock because that's just right" kind of guy and I do LOVE LEDs. But there is something TO ME about a Jeeps back end that is nearly the same back 30 years and part of that is the tail lights. Changing the look of the tail lights almost makes it "not a jeep" to me.

No splicing. Plug/play.
Your package will have instructions ---- follow the instructions.

I'm not sure how the final version will mount --- probably the same or similar to the beta set I'm still running.
I didn't get instructions until about a month after the lights arrived.
This is what I did:

1) take off your old lights by unscrewing the two inboard screws and unplugging the light. Keep the screws; you will re-use. Don't unplug your trailer wiring on the left light like I did the first time...
Get your new light ready

2) assemble your resistor mounting gizmo with the provided nuts and screws

3) mount the mounting gizmo with the zig-zag tab thingies to the vertical piece of sheet metal in the light cavity

4) plug in your new light, stick it in place, screw in the two screws.
Bring out your wife or significant other and have them admire the lights. Don't warn them, just click the door lock so they blink and listen to them go, "jeeeeez that's RED!!!"

Add me to the list of people hoping the back up white lights are considerably brighter.

I wonder does DOT regulate the back up light? I'm just thinking out loud here; but some of us are wanting a much brighter back up light, but th guys that "play by the rules" and get their assemblies DOT approved might only be able to go so bright.

The JWS Tail Lights back Up Lights are the same "Brightness as stock" . They are not going to be yellow like stock but, same brightness.
Can't be brighter legally.

You are correct, sir.

The output of reverse lights is strictly regulated ----- they're not really for seeing where you're going; they're for people to know you're moving in reverse. You can't obscure the redness of the tail light or be bright enough to confuse with a car moving forward.

The best (only?) legal way to see where you're going in reverse is to mount a couple of LED cubes and switch them (so that you'll only use them offroad, right?).

As for a better mouse trap, yup.
They certainly grab your attention. Bright, crisp, RED, in-yer-face, painfully-bright, instant-on light.
The instant-on and painfully-bright are what get me. Both are safety things worthy of mention. The half-blind Cadillac pilots driving in the rain will certainly see you. In fact, they might not see the traffic light, just you...

Great point and worth the price of admission, May even save your "Ass" from Suzie Stinkypants who's driving Mom's Subaru while texting "Bobby" and listening to Nine Inch Nails sing "I love you just the way your bent-over".
It's nice to Not get rear-ended (unless that's what one is in to).

Now we need JW to come up with front turn signals, side marker lights and a LED 3rd brake light so everything matches up.

That thought actually crosses my mind during my early morning commute. I pity the retinas of the people behind me.
If there are multiple traffic lights, I note them stopping further and further back...

I think that Philips will probably get a bulb out soon enough for the front lights; the 3rd eye is already an LED.
Who knows though? They might make a front turn signal along the same design lines as these tail lights --- the glowing bars are really zippy looking and would look very cool up front.
