I’m looking to upgrade tires soon to 35s. I’m between General grabbers in 35x12.5r17 in E load and falken wildpeak at3w in 315/70r17 in C load.
So far I like the price of the Falkens, I’d save about 350 dollars over the generals.
I like the generals looks better, I love white letters on tires.
I’m concerned about E load on a 2 door though.

the generals tread patterns looks like it would do slightly better clearing out the tread of dirt and mud.

Has anyone tried both? Just looking for some opinions.

The ATX is similar to my BFG KO2, and that is a great all around tire. Not the best in the mud.
Mine are, and all mine have been, load range E, on my 2 doors. Every Jeep I have had, my TJ, and both JK's, have been 2 doors on E load tires. Even my first, a CJ7, was on 10 ply bias Super Swampers.
I can state I have never felt as though I would prefer the ride of a C.
And not every E is the same. That Falken E will be softer in the sidewall than my BFG KO2 E, because the KO2 has 3 ply sidewalls. The Falken has 2, same as my Toyo atiii tires did. That was a cush ride for an E, to be sure.

I’m leaning towards the falkens. Seems to be one of the only 35s in C load… they apparently measure out to 34.7 inches inflated, so a pretty true 35 as well

I’m just worried E load isn’t going to be flexible enough for rock crawling a light rig

Reactions: Old Dogger
I’ve got a Nissan Titan and am on a forum for those trucks. The off road version comes stock with the grabbers and the reactions are mixed. Most end up trading them out for something different, many times for the falkens. And some swear by the grabbers.

Based on the not great reviews I didn’t even bother looking into the grabbers even though I could’ve picked up a set of new takes offs pretty cheaply. I put the falkens on my truck and have no complaints at all except they can break free in the wet a little easier than I’d like.

In the snow they’re great! They are three peak rated but not a true winter tire, but I go to our mountain to watch my daughter ski race and never have an issue. Even on the back roads to the cabin that doesn’t get plowed nearly enough they handle great as long as you respect that snow and ice is slippery :)

The Toyo Open country AT3 comes in a 35x11.5/17 Load C and if you want something more aggressive the Nitto Trail Grappler also comes in 35x11.5/17 Load C. I have a set of the Nittos on order for my 2 Door.

Good to know. Hard to find the right tire that isn't an load E But didn't know about the sidewalls. And I'am actually look at the Toyo AT3s

My point of reference on the Toyo:
They were amazing in mud for an AT. Beterr than my ko2 by a mile.
They would have made 60k miles easy, BUUUUTT- after 30k they were shite in the wet. I mean, dangerous. I never had my ko2s kick out on an on ramp in rain. The they hydroplaned like a MF in puddles as well, also after 30k. Tread depth was still well within workable range, none were below 7/32nds. This was never, EVER an issue with my ko2s. I swapped back to ko2 after 40k on the Toyo. I'm a cheap bastige, so thqt's how much I hated them after 30k.
Up to that point, they were awesome, and had they performed that way through 60k like my ko2s, then I would have ponied uo the extra $75 per tire to get them again.
I drive 30k miles, year 'round, in all conditions-rain, snow, mud, dry, so take my input for what you will. Maybe I got a bad batch (two actually, first set wouldn't balance), but I doubt it.
Oh, and don't get me started on BSW vs RWL. The should pattern is differwnt on the two types. If you like to have some meat on your shoulder, get the BSW. Running the RWL, you will not get that. Even they (Toyo) were not aware the two were different. I figured it out because my RWL would not balqnce so I asked for BSW and immediately noticed the difference in the shoulders.
