What is the best all terrain tires for under $175
They must be good for snow and mud
And a they will last long and come in 32s

I've got 31" Duratracs. Snow, mud, wet road, sand, traction is excellent. What I failed to listen to was the warnings about the weak sidewall on them. Rocks and roots can tear up any tires sidewall, but these seem a bit more susceptible. If this were my dd, I'd stick with them because they really have performed well otherwise. Trading these up soon for maybe some MTR's.

why dont you make a poll, so far its duratracs by a mile, and not many a/ts can compete

bfg ats will have the most miles when all said and done, but are worse in every other category when compared to a duratrac. and they dont get too many more miles than the duratracs. i have no doubt that i'll have 60k on mine if i keep them that long

Check out this recent (Nov. '14) review of AT tires: Where the Rubber Meets the Road | Expedition Portal. IDK which of these manufacturers support 32" tires, so you'll have to do your own research based on your preference.

FWIW, I love my General AT 2s (30") but based on the cited article, I'd have chosen Cooper AT 3s (similar price point).

YMMV, and invariably will...

Good to know. I'll probably go with the Duratracs when it is time to replace tires on the Jeep.

It *is* time to replace them on my SD, and I already know I'm going with Duratracs in it.

Maybe I'll get lucky and Goodyear will go kevlar by the time I'm ready to do the Jeep, but to be honest, the wife drives the Jeep more than me, so I don't think the sidewalls will be an issue anyway. We're already talking about maybe getting another TJ just for me to play with. My Jeep history is with CJ's and Military Jeeps- I was a little apprehensive about getting this more modern Jeep, but I must say, I'm pretty impressed with it.

If you want nice snow tire I would suggest duratrac in 31x10.5 but if you plan on going on trails with rocks and roots pay the extra for the road hazard as side wall tears are generally not repairable.

IF no mud and less snow and want long miles go BFG but poor in mud and not as good as duratrac in snow

Some guys also like Yokohama and they are also OK in snow ran several years where I live at 7000 plus feet as they came on wife's used Rubicon. handled our snow storms and muddy roads fine. She doesn't do much off road.

For significant snow go more narrow than 12.5 either 33 or 31 in a 10.5

I had about 50 miles on my new Duratrac 33"s when this 'pebble' happened, landed the Jeep on a sharp rock, cut through the side wall, that was 3 1/2 years ago and it's still on the Jeep and still working fine, no repair, no worries.

And they look great too.

I have Duratracs on right now and can attest to their ability in the snow. Great tire and quiet on pavement. However, I'm considering a set of Goodyear MTR's for my three weeks in Moab this fall. Is this a waste of money? Since I live in snow country I wouldn't mind having Duratracs in winter and MTR's in summer for wheeling. Any other offroad recommendations?

I agree with others in this thread, Duratracs with kevlar sides would be the sweetspot.

I'm getting ready to go to 35"s this spring and selling my Duratrac 33"s

for my 35"s I've been looking at these -

Kevlars because they are awesome and around $250

And Dick Cepek Crushers for the stiffer composition and who doesn't love the sidewall skull & crossbones and all the tire lugs are bones Pirate Tires

They both have Prime, I wouldn't buy tires without it. You may have to change the seller to get the prime option.

The crushers I guess don't say prime, but give free 3 day to prime members, the Kevlars you click where it says 3 new and the top option is prime.

I had 31" General Grabbers, in some sand in Az a stick (not even sharp) went right through the sidewall, not saying it couldnt happen to any tire, but it happened to the Grabbers I had, so I'm skittish about them, they are priced well though.
