Does anyone know if there is a take off market for the 10th anniversary red leather seats? I'm debating a 2013 JKR but the seats are the main drawback for me... Any thoughts or experiences with having them or selling them??

I agree with you on getting rid of them. I think they would sell though or perhaps someone will even trade you. I ordered my 10A JK and made sure to get my order in early (by Jan 31, 2013) so as to avoid the red leather.....it is so out of place in a Jeep to me. Red leather looks great in a silver Porsche or Ferrari though....Corvette too.

Post them on the forum selling pages and maybe Craigslist too I think you'll have little problem finding interested takers.

I think the red looks awesome with the anvil paint on the 10A. I get all kinds of compliments on them from shops, coworkers, etc.

If you end up having the seats recovered, definitely keep the leather that's taken off. Hell, I might even buy it in case something happens to some of mine.

That's cool to hear. Part of me thinks it might grow on me. The other part is just not into leather seats! So if I do wind up buying this one I may just put seat covers on or resell the seats/leather. Gotta decide if I'm trading in or adding a second Jeep to the family. Decisions, decisions.

i drive a 2015 anvil with black leather seats. i kinda like the red leather look, i know its not for everyone obviously. I can't imagine having cloth seats. The leather may get wrinkles from wear, but being able to wipe up mud, dirt, spilled food, and husky dog hair makes them priceless imo. Cleaning any one of those off cloth would be annoying at best.

Good point about clean-ability. One thing I enjoy not worrying about with my current cloth seats is being caught in the rain naked. Happened a few times last year and once this year. Have you had any leather+rain experiences?

If you buy it, Spree, in order to maintain value I'd keep the red leather seats. If you can afford it, buy some takeoff cloth seats and put the reds in your basement. You can always sell them later if they're in great condition. This I can guarantee -- they'll be worth more later than they are now. Why? All the guys with 10As who wear out their first set, all the guys with 10As who buy it used with black seats but really want the red seats, and the random Anvil Rubicon owners who want to build a Tribute 10A. But right now there aren't many of any of those categories. But let the 10A get a bit older and you'll be able to get a decent price for them if they're in Time-Capsule condition.

If you can't find or afford a set of cloth seats, at least leave the reds in and put Trek Armor (now called Bartact) seat covers over them. You should do that anyway, whether you like the red seats or not. They are fantastic covers.

And the above assumes you keep the 10A forever and never grow to love the red seats and finally decide to sell them. But if you go to sell the 10A, you'll also want those seats installed in it for max value.

My $.02

In the 911 world, 2014 they offered a limited run of one-thousand-nine hundred and sixty-four 50th anniversary editions and it could be had with special 1964-looking houndstooth seats (fabric called Pepita), or you could opt out and get any of the standard leathers. Many really dislike the Pepita and ordered with a standard black or dark grey seat. But even now, three model years later, the Pepita is a highly acclaimed look, unavailable OEM anywhere except in the 911/50. In 10 years a set of original seats in like-new condition will trade for $10,000 or more. At that time, every single person who has a "vintage" 911/50 will want it to be one with the distinctive seats.

Yeah I've been thinking along those lines too - saving them in pristine condition for future investment. That would work for me on both sides of the coin - cloth seats for rain and having the original 10A set up for resell (possibly). Thanks for the tips man!

Yeah so far most of the feedback for the take off market is for the four door set. I'm warming up to the idea of red, but still thinking cloth will better fit my Jeep lifestyle. Still figuring out how serious I am about this JKR...

my first post must have been confusing. I love the red seats! I have an Anvil 4 door. When I first saw it for sale i thought I would not like them, but seeing them in person changed my mind. I am now looking for a 2 door 10A for my daughter. She loves the red seats also. As she puts it "that is sick". I may have found a 10A but with black seats. If I can make the deal to buy it , I was hoping to find someone with the red seats that rather have the black seats. I would be willing to swap and even add some money to get the red seats.

I have looked everywhere for the red seats. Is there any good websites that I could possibly look to see if these ever come up for sale or trade.
I have looked for 3 years with no luck. I have a10A with black leather and wanted to keep the 10A seats not after market.
Also would like the recon seat belts with the black seats

you can order new red recon seatbelts from any mopar parts online vendors. I have to say the red seatbelts in my recon are one thing I do not like. I kid you not pull into a starbucks or drive thru and someone comments that you have red seatbelts they stick out like a sore thumb.

if you guys want the red, order it from katzkin. They have similar colors and patterns. You can also get it embroided with different mopar logos if you order through a dealer. These are the ones i had from them, just recently took then off and changed to brown.

Those look nice k. I would like the factory with the lettering if possible. My black 10A have 23k and show no wear.
Its a option to get something like that and save the black covers

Not going to happen... Katzkin will not do it. The Rubicon 10A font is protected by copyright laws.
