18" or 20" wheels and what size A/T tires for 14' unlimited Sahara?

I want to buy the FUEL HOSTAGE wheels but I can't decide whether to go with 18" or 20" on my 14' Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara.
I usually use it as a daily driver and take it to an offroad trip once every while.
I offroad for hunting sometimes.

It has a Teraflex performance spring leveling kit that let's it sit 2" higher than stock.

SO 18" or 20" Fuel wheels?
Also, I want the KO2 A/T BFGs, Should I go with 285/65/Rxx or 305/65/rXX for them?

What do you guys think for the purposes I use the car in? Pros vs cons?

Thanks
Ron - I'm new to all this.

You just opened a can of worms, first by asking if you should install 20's and second for calling your Jeep a car.

20's are for the pretty highway Jeeps, 90% will vote 17's. I myself like the look of a lil bigger wheel, yet still able to off-road it, so I went with 18's on 35's. Still have plenty of sidewall for airing down with zero issues.

As for your AT tires, I wanted a more aggressive AT, so I went with Toyo AT2 Xtreme's

14' is one short-ass JKU.

OK Ron, call it a Jeep... It will be offended by being called a car.

I don't ever recommend 20's and usually only recommend 18's if you are putting on a 35 or larger tire. So yes to 17's...

But if you are set on going larger do the 18's and a 285/70-18 Nitto EXO tire.

The EXO Grappler is more of a winter tire. If going with Nittos I would suggest the Ridge Grappler.

I prefer 17 inch wheels. Out of your choices and tire sizes I'd go 18.

It's a 4 season tire, but more importantly, the Ridge Grappler isn't available in that size.

This is the same setup I have, but tires not in yet so no pics. I like the look! And I agree, it's your Jeep. Do with it as you see best and then it will be unique and yours. We don't want all of them looking the same. But 18s won't get as much neg. attention.

the real question should be 15's or 16's
who in their right mind would put a 20 on a jeep?
that is just wrong...
so very, very wrong...
I feel dirty just thinking about it... and not the good kind of dirty either...

The G Wagen comes stock with 20" wheels. Most would be hard pressed to claim its not capable off road.

20" wheels with stock height tires (275/55/20) looks like this:

If I had the time and inclination to off road like when I was younger and had a real jeep, I can put the stock 18" wheels back on.

The AMG versions come with 20" wheels stock, the G550 comes with 19" wheels.

And "capable off road" means different things to different people.

No doubt the Geländewagen can handle itself on dirt.

But I wouldn't want to try going over any sized rocks with those low profile tires that they wrap around the 20" wheels

There is some functionality lost with the 20's... But how often are "you" needing that functionality? If never, then does it matter?

Here is the occasional "need" for some of us:

Big wheels with low pro tires don't do that very well...

Or, here are the extremes that make for fun conversation:

Damn!! Guys this is amazing!! My first thread post and I love all the conversation it started!!!

First, I do Apologize to you and to my JEEP. It is called a JEEP not a car. lool

Second I will be researching all the options you guys suggested from 18" and below including tires, and giving some feedback.

I will be offroading it for sure. I already did once. but most of my driving is daily driving. Off-road maybe once every month or 2.

I had stock 18" and went with 17" just for costs and more options when it came to wheels and tires (that's what I was told, at least). Mine has Fuel Anza wheels on 35/12.5R17 BFG KO2s.

Thanks Landoawd and everyone for the input.

I went with Fuel Vapor D569 18"(-12mm offset) which is balanced btw the mild offroads I do and daily driving and they won't look ridiculously large like the 20s.
Also I slapped some BFG KO2 35x12.50x18 on them and lifted it 2"

For me, it depends on what your are doing. For on road only, I think you can do 35" tires on 18" wheels, or 37" tires on 20" wheels, but any less sidewall is unacceptable to me. For off road, I really prefer at least 37" tires on 17" wheels to be able to air down low and still have a good amount of sidewall.

For example, my DD tires and wheels are 37X12.50R20's and my off road tires and wheels are 37X12.50R17 on beadlocks.

Yes, it's the same Jeep, I just haven't had time to get some trail pics since the cosmetic work.

20's are the only way a Jeep looks right

Flame on :beerdrinking::atomic:

Personally I like the look of 20's. I go on triails, deer hunt , mall crawl , Starbucks and even chipotle sometimes if I'm feeling it.

Do what you want . Google images and build your ride like you want it.
