Try this, and report back. Buy a couple of cans of Berryman's carb cleaner, and give that throttle body a good cleaning. Spray all the linkages on the outside as well. Over time, things get very sticky inside and out, of your throttle body. Make sure all your vacuum lines are in good shape as well. Let us know how that works for you.

Also, have you replaced the fuel filter?

 

I cleaned the throttle body with the berrymans carb cleaner and the thing was very dirty. I noticed alittle power gain but am still falling short on the hiway. I can do about 60 and thats it. Any other help would be greatly appricaited. I have not changed the fuel filter yet, can somebody tell me were it is located. Are there any other vacuum lines besides the one that runs the heater controlls that is the only one I can find. I am also wondering if i can test the pressure in the fuel line. Thanks for the help guys.

 

I will let someone else help you, as I know very little about the 2.5 engine. I don't have one to help guide you through this. There are plenty of members that have this engine, and was hoping that they would jump in here and give you some more ideas.

have your catylic converter checked out. it could be stopped up

 

would be a good idea...and you can always go to a high flow catalytic converter if that was the prob and wanted a new one

 

If my cat is plugged can i just modify it and take out the guts and run it that way. I am planning on taking a look at the cat today. I will let you know what i find

 

Visually, you may not be able to tell if the cat is bad. When you crawl under there, give it a good whack with something non-metallic, but heavy. If it rattles, that very well could be your problem. Also, be careful to make sure you haven't run the jeep for a while. Cats get very hot and hold heat way longer than anything else under there. Ask me how I know. BTW, the fuel filter is in the tank just like the 4.0s.

Same issue

I have the same issue loss of power on hills I just replace the engine as the other one blew. I thought my check engine light would come on if the cat was bad. I replaced everything else including upgrading the throttle body.
