I have been working on replacing my brake pads, rotors and calipers for the last few days.

However, I can't seem to get the correct rotor from Advanced Auto for my 2001 TJ SE.

I frist bought our 82mm rotors (YH141602) and then exchanged them for what was listed as the 78mm rotars (YH145276).

Both rotors locked up the tires/wheels once the rim was tightened down. When I put the old rotor back on everything rotates freely!

I have Advanced Auto, Auto Zone and NAPA all in my area.

What rotor is correct???

Figuring this out is exhausting!

Thanks,
Rob

Copied from Stu Offroad:

So the point is that the thickness of the rotor hat, that part that slips over your wheel studs, is different between the two rotor styles. The difference is about 1/8" and can be easily detected with a ruler. Lay the rotor on a flat surface with the hat up. Put a ruler down through the large hole in the middle of the rotor and note the measurement. Take the ruler (or the rotor if you wish) with you to the auto parts store when you get your new rotors and make certain the new ones share that same measurement. If they are wrong, they will still mount on your vehicle just fine....but when you slip your tire onto the studs and tighten the lug nuts, it will bind and you will NOT be able to rotate your tire.

In other words, break out the ruler and measure your old rotors

Agreed, that was going to be the plan...how should Auto Zone or I find the correct rotor, both part numbers listed for my Jeep didn't work?

Just start pulling and measuring every rotor? Or should just try the same part listed with a other auto parts store?

The rotors changed between early 99 and down vs late 99 and up....

You may not have all original parts on your jeep.... take your old rotor in and compare it to rotors for a 98 and for an 01.... buy the ones that match up....

Nothing wrong w autozone.... they should be able to supply you just as well as napa and likely less expensive.

What measurement is 78MM? According to NAPA that is an 11.03 in (280.16mm) diameter rotor. The thickness new is .89 in (24.38 mm).

The Mopar part number is 5016434AA

Look for the Mopar numbers on the calipers. They should be 5252985 and 5252984
