Does the 2006 Wrangler TJ come stock with 3rd brake light?

All Jeep Wranglers have had the third brake light since at least the '93 YJ, and possibly the '92. I know for certain the '93 did because when I traded my '91 in on a new '93 that was one think I noted. They are easy to remove though as they are just bolted to the spare tire bracket, on the JKs they molded on. The wiring went through a hole in the TG right behind the spare and went over to a housing on the inside of the TG near the hinge. There were two matching contacts on a panel on the inside of the tub.

If your tailgate does not have the hole, it may not have the vent either. If neither is there, then the tailgate has been replaced with one for an a earlier YJ. (I think the YJ and TJ tailgates are interchangeable, but not sure.

Thank you all so much! I'm working on switching all exterior lights to LED, and I hoped to add the (ring) third brake light. I wasn't sure if mine originally had the stock third brake light because the OEM part was removed before I purchased it. I already put in the hyper flash module, but any other tips/links would be appreciated. I have read multiple forums on here, but I'm very new to all of this.

Yes. The bracket attaches to the spare tire mount and extend over the spare. Like already mentioned in other post, if it has an oversized spare or a rear tire delete, the factory bracket has probably been removed. They make aftermarket option to add to center of spare or over the tailgate vent. If you are looking for the factory light / mount, try FB marketplace or a local junkyard.

If you still have the bracket on the inside of the tailgate on the passenger side, It would be easy to mount. Mine is removed as others have stated, it was fugly. I used the OEM bracket and part of the factory wires that were in the tailgate, just adding the ring. I initially just twisted the wiring to make sure the light worked, as the ring is LED and they only pass current in one direction. Both wires on the ring were black, so I had a 50/50 chance of being right. I was wrong the first time, swapped the wires over and it worked just fine. I prefer it.

Some stated will not pass it through inspection since it is not original. Some state, if you are stopped, will ticket you because it is not a CHMSL (Center High Mounted Stop Light). I have seen some down here that aren't very bright, but mine is fairly good.

Georgia no longer has a vehicle inspection law (passed in the 80's and then repealed several years later), nor do state troopers enforce NHSTA regulations.

Inside the tailgate on the hinge side mounted on the sidewall about 6" up from the floor should be a small "box" about the size of two packs of cigarettes with two metal contacts. The tailgate should have a matching box with contacts. This is the electrical contacts for the third brake light, the wire for it should be inside the tailgate. It's nice because there is no exposed wire flexing every time you open and close it. You can use it for your ring light if your spare is mounted on the tailgate, but it won't be helpful if your spare is on a bumper/tire carrier setup.

After I removed my rear light, I used the contacts for my tailgate power door lock. For the rear light I have two button LEDs in the unused lug nut holes on the spare. The carrier for the spare is hinged on the rear bumper, so I just ran the wire for it along the spare tire carrier frame.

Here is a photo of the connection. There are two insulated button contacts on the inside fender wall. On the tailgate is a cover. At the other end of the cover are two matching contacts to make the connection. Remove the cover and there will be a bracket holding the two contacts and two wires connected to the contacts.
