I was having problems with my fuel guage showing empty when the tank was full. If I turned off the ignition and restarted it would sometimes show correctly.
I found out that there was a recall on the sending unit and took my Jeep in for the recall.
Two days after picking up my Jeep I ran out of gas with the gauge still showing between 1/4 and 1/2 remaining in the tank.
I took the Jeep back to the dealership and was told that the replaced sending unit was good and that the problem was somewhere in the wiring or a problem with the gauge itself.
Is there a difference between the fuel pump/sending unit for a 15 gallon tank and a 19 gallon tank. Would the wrong part cause the problems I am seeing?
Is there a way to check the ohms from the sending unit to the fuel gauge?
How do I check to see if the fuel gauge is working properly?
These fuel gauge problems seem to be pretty common. Are there any aftermarket, plug and play type fuel gauges that will work on Jeeps
Thanks for any help
