Aftermarket Wiring Harness For Older Model Sony???

I have 2 stereos that take the same aftermarket wiring harness.

A Sony MEX-BT2600 & a Sony CDX-GT660UP.

Both are older models, & they still work fine, & I am not interested in getting a newer model.

I cannot locate a harness on web.
I was going to take another member's advice, & get one from Metra.

I don't see one listed on their website.

Is there a website that might possibly have this harness?

Possibly Crunchfeld?

Something like this? ...
That looks like it.
But, the description says approximately 7/8" x 3/8", my plug is over 1 1/4" x 1/2".

I guess, like everything else, as time goes on, thi gs get smaller.

The description of the plug, that you showed, said that it was for 2012 models & newer.

That's probably why I'm having such a hard time finding the plug that I need.

I Googled my radios to see WHEN they were made.

I had no idea that I had my stereos for so long.

I forget what the year my CDX was made, but the MEX was made in 2008.

Unfortunately most aftermarket companies stop making those connectors after the warranty period is done. There is very little market for them And if you do find one it will probably be over priced.
My suggestion is find some local repair shops bring the radio and ask if they have any old connectors. When I worked at an electronics repair shop we used to have boxes of those as many times aftermarket radios were not cost effective to repair and would be disposed of.

That really sucks.
I have 2 good radios, but because companies have stopped making ONE component, these radios become obsolete.

Not because of a flaw in the craftsmanship. Nope, they just want to make you have to purchase another one of their radios, and just throw away your old (but still operable) radio.

It's really crazy.
Everything about my radio works perfectly, I just need the wiring harness.

But, because I can't find a replacement harness, I'm supposed to throw my radio away, & purchase another one.

The one I just linked lists his specific model so it is cheep and should work...
It ALMOST lists my model.

It lists CDX-GT660UP, but my model is CDX-GT66UPW. Close, but it won't work.

Also, the one you showed is for a 18-pin setup.

Mine is a 16-pin setup.

I do appreciate your help, but you can see why I am having such a hard time.

My mistake.
Sorry about that.

I might have found a solution.

It's called "Crutchfield Ready Harness Service".

You tell Crutchfield what vehicle you have, & what radio you want to install.

For $25, they will put together a wiring harness that has the plug for your radio on one end, & the plug that goes into your vehicle's corresponding plug.

Only thing is, with my radio being an older model, like everyone else, they might not have my radio's plug.

Once they reopen, I will contact them to see if they can help.

If you have a 2093-2096 TJ the best 2 oem plug and play radio options are

Oval face model REV from 05-07 minivan
Plays cd and cdr with MP3

plays DVD

Has composite video out

Has front rca plugs for left and right in and video in

Will control oem Sirius module

Will control oem 6 dvd changer

Will work with oem uconnect with Bluetooth phone answering and voice dialing and oem microphone mirror

Next best choice is oval face RB1 navigation radio

Same features and comparability as above but no DVD or external sound inputs
And can only play cdr in cd format no mp3 file playback

Will accept uconnect and Sirius module and 6 dvd changer

Both of my radios accept the same plug. No matter which radio is plugged in, it works.

Now, no matter which one is hooked up, I only get sound from the front right speaker.

I check to make sure that the balance & fade are set correctly. But, no sound, except for the front right speaker.

Like one of our members has said, the speaker wiring doesn't usually go bad, so that leaves either the radio, speakers or the harness connectors.

Since BOTH radios have the same problem, I've ruled out the radios.

I have taken one speaker, & hooked it up to the different wirings (left front, left rear, right front, right rear) directly to the back of the radio.

Still no sound, except from the front right speaker.

I think that the problem is because of stuffing the radio into the small dashboard space, & that "stuffing" pulled on the wires.

Send me a PM with a mailing address and I’ll send you an RBP radio that is just taking up space on my shelf
(Might even add a Sirius and radio to module harness and antenna just for grins)

No mp3 but good sound oem used in highest end Pacifica and with oval face to fit your dash

Am fm cd and cassette by Harmon with quality sound

Same as RBU in this article but no RF headphone ability

I don't mean to sound greedy. Another member is already sending me an OEM jeep radio.

I would love to get the radio and harness from you. If I were to get the "MEX-BT2600" working, I'd pass the OEM radio on to another jeeper.

Either way, I wouldn't keep both radios.

LJBean,

I'm going to pass on your offer. It was very kind of you.

Looking back on it, I feel bad because I had already accepted Digger84's offer first.

It was very nice of you, but I wouldn't feel right about accepting the radio.

At first, I had no radio.
Then, I had too many radios.

Thank you for your offer, though.
