Anyone else enjoy Sarge Green?

I absolutely love my 2016 Sarge Green 75th Anniversary edition. I sought a lot of help from this forum to decide what model to get. I settled on the 75th edition because it had all the features I wanted and seemed to be common in the Sarge Green color (which I liked). It is a 6-speed manual and, so far, unmodified with the exception of a cell phone holder and new tires. Part of me wants to keep everything original because it is a "special edition" but every Jeep is a special edition, isn't it? LOL.

After seeking advice on this forum, I recently replaced the factory Goodyear Wranlger 245/70R17's with a set of Nitto Recon Grapplers 285/70R17. The new tires are big enough to give a bit of a meaty look to the wheels but didn't require any lift or other modifications. They have a very aggressive look but ride smoothly around town. I also love the stock rims.

I live in North Carolina and the top stays off from just after pollen season (May-ish) to about November each year. The doors also typically come off from June to October. I'm fortunate enough to have a garage at home and a public parking garage near work where I can scurry out and hide my Jeep when an afternoon shower rolls in.

Upgrades planned for the future include installation of a CB radio and perhaps and air intake/exhaust combo.

I'd love to see what others have done with a similar model.

I really like the Sarge color as well, but my wife hates it. so no go there. I saw a Sarge 4xe rubicon 4 door with color matched top at the dealer the other day, love it.

If I had yours I would definitely keep all the special edition features. I'd love to have a set of those wheels for mine. I really am confused by people who by the special editions and then strip off everything that makes them special editions to make them look like every other modded jeep. But it's theirs so there is that.

I would stay away from the intake/exhaust mods, they are pretty much a waste of money on these. Maybe a small lift or leveling kit. I have the teraflex leveling kit on mine, works fine and adds to the look just a little. and some simple things like a fuel filler door and LED headlights.

if you do any offroading I'd get some simple skids for oil pan and transmission and some swaybar disconnects.

Good suggestion. The CB is a waste except when going with a caravan. And even then a handheld will get the job done.

GMRS is a much better choice, but there are still "guided" caravans where GMRS hasn't caught on yet that still use CB for communications.

If it were me I'd buy a handheld CB and a handheld GMRS (decent units can be had for $50 or so), and mount a quality HAM mobile unit. Your options are better overall and much more versatile. The range of CB and GMRS is nominal anyway even with a mobile unit because of the low wattage, and the handhelds will still get the job done when traveling in a group. GMRS repeaters are few and far between and even then most are restricted to "members" of the repeaters. Not so with a HAM radio. And you will make more friends and contacts with HAM than with the others. Licensing is fairly easy if you do a little bit of studying before taking the exam, and there are usually HAM clubs that you can join in most every locale. And if you are interested in doing any public service work there are also numerous opportunities available.

FWIW ..............

Actually, I do have a HAM license, but I like having the ability to communicate with truckers and monitor other traffic on road trips, so I've always maintained a CB in my trucks. I was half thinking of adding an overhead rack so I could put in both a CB and a HAM.

I'm not really an off road driver... I know that is sacrilege among some in this forum, but I take a great deal of pleasure in just driving my jeep topless and tooling around on country roads, going to work, and enjoying the outdoors. It is also a daily driver and pretty well outfitted with creature comforts. Having been off road before in other vehicles, I'd shudder at the thought of giving it a dust bath inside and then having to clean it. I'm also not one for beating it up. Maybe a "top-and-doors-on" off road trip would be fun at some point, but I don't see myself taking it up as a hobby to the point of doing too many 4 x 4 mods.

I have all three in my jeep, CB, GMRS, and Ham. Due to space, I put the CB under the passenger seat and the GMRS under the drivers seat. Both have the controls in the handset. Just connect a coax extension between the two radios and use a single NMO mount, so I can use either the GMRS or the CB depending on who I'm trying to contact.

My family and I all love the Sarge Green. Here’s what I did to ours:

We love Sarge Green so much that we painted our little Lund boat Sarge Green (no clear coat added) as well!

I’d say that’s tank. Pic & lighting may be deceiving tho. Mostly I say tank as i don’t remember sarge green being available during the JK model line, other than on the 75th anniversary edition. I really like the sarge green color. Reminds me of the natural/Jeep green available at the end of the TJ model years & beginning of the JK model line.

Yeah, looks like tank in sun light. It looks different under all circumstances.

That's a giant YES from me! I've never owned any Jeep before and after test driving a 2024 2-door Sport I decided to dive in. Tried to order a new one in Sarge and was told the color was no longer available. But, after a national search I found the exact spec that I'd wanted to order. It was 1,000 miles away but, for me, it HAD to be Sarge. Mine's a base Sport 2-door, 3.6, manual trans, with hardtop and just a few other options. Sarge looks so right on that simple basic rig. Looks like a proper no-nonsense forest service tool!
Glad I found one just in time!

Just got our 2nd. Sadly let the first one go, a 2007, but have since corrected our mistake and now our oldest has a great first driver! Plus dad and him get to work on it and make it his own. 2015 6-speed and sooo fun to drive. First up mod is a new radio antenna with more to come shortly.

Plus I'm proud of him for taking to time to learn the stick shift. He's doing very well!
