I've done the tailgate hinges and plan on doing all hinges in a semi gloss black. Goodluck with the torques on the tail gate hinges; I stripped mine out and had to replace them with allen head bots. It looks really good, and it would really accent a silver Jeep well. If it weren't dark, I'd go take a picture now. If I remember tomorrow I will.

 

I have the black kentrol hinges just havent put them on yet, probably going to be a bitch to put on because the stock ones have painted bolts

 

I run all powder coated black hinges against a custom color called Caddilac Kevlar. In my opinion it looks awesome against the dark grey but they should really stand out if on a silver Jeep. I stripped out about half of the torx heads that held the hinges on so I replaced them with black powder coated header bolts.

 

I have a white jeep. Curious about this as well.

An option you guys have if you aren't sure or dont want the change to be permanent is using something like the rugged ridge hinge covers. I put them on my black jeep just because I liked the look, but I am sure they might even give you a look similar to what you want. They fit all door and hood hinges on my JK. I would imagine they have something close for the TJ models? :whistling: Just a thought for you fellow Jeepers! :thumb:


They look a little grey in this light but they are def a textured black finish.

The still look good after 3 years. they do seem thinner than the stock hinges, and I spent about 4 hours re-aligning my doors after installing them, but it could have just been me.

I have also been looking at doing all my hinges black. I was looking at the Kentrol set but i think i can find a better place to drop $160. I think im gonna take my current hinges, spray them with a self etching primer and give them a coat of black myself, then possibly clear coat them. might work on that this weekend, If i do, ill post pics.
