I've heard good and bad about rough country are they that bad for the price?

We all know there are better kits, but they also come at a price. Having said that, I just installed their 4" X-Series lift. I am completely happy with it. I ignored all the haters that said they ride really rough, and I'm glad I did. I will say that it's my first jeep, so I can really only compare it to how it was when it was stock. It rides nearly as nice and only slightly rougher than it did. The biggest difference in handling seems to be a result of the bigger tires as opposed to the lift.

I may find things i don't like about it, but for now, it gets my endorsement.

I've personally installed RC lifts on a TJ and on my dads ZJ, and they've both worked great on and off-road for several years. There's nothing special about them but, for the money it's hard not to like. The only thing I've noticed more on the TJ (possibly because its lighter than the ZJ) is that the ride is a little "sporty", which I'm sure could be fixed by getting softer shocks, but its nothing unbearable. I don't run any of their stuff on my rig but, if I was on a budget or only casually wheeled, I would seriously consider getting a RC lift.

I would go zone over RC, but hey they're not that bad. It's one of those companies for us people who don't have the bucks for savvy this a currie that.

If it were me I would go zone combo with an sye and cv shaft or I would do an RC lift.

Some day I hope to have a cool long arm lift 3 and 4 linked but hey that costs money and its something I don't have right now so that just means a compromise.

Those two companies are a great compromise for people in a similar situation.

I have RC coils, but thats it... I am happy with the flex and ride. I think the harshness ( bouncy ) feels is due to shocks.. I'm almost certain it is on mine....

This is my first Wrangler and it already had a 4" RC lift installed on it when I bought it. I have nothng to compare it to either but all seems well. Like others have said, the shocks that came with it may be a little harsh but lift suits my needs.

To understand why certain suspension manufacturers are looked down upon, you first need to understand what makes a good suspension and what makes an undesirable suspension.....so you've got to have some knowledge at the component level. You can read "rough country sucks balls" all day long but unless you understand why, you're just reading words on a computer.

I don't recommend RC for nearly anything for good reasons. Yes, I've ran and installed plenty of their parts.....and have replaced about 90% of those parts with better parts.

Care to explain what makes suspensions good and bad?

Usually you get the rc owner who gives praise to the great customer service at rc. They generally know this from dealing with them for Warranty replacement parts.

My thought is you shouldn't need to spend that much time dealing with customer service.

Rc is a cookie cutter lift company. They don't focus on only one vehicle, so what you get are lifts mass produced for a fast sale, at a cheap price. They are patrons of mediocrity !

When was the last time you saw a thread titled Are OME, Clayton, Currie, Savvy Lifts That Bad?

I don't subscribe to the "I don't have the money for a quality kit BS". It all come down to standards and how high yours are. Some people have RC standards and some have OME, Clayton, Currie...standards.
