Goodyear Fierce Attitude M/T

I am looking for a 35x12.50r17 Mud Tire for my 2013 Rubicon JKU. I wanted a good 'value priced' tire, and a 'mild' M/T, as opposed to a all-out serious/aggressive M/T. I would also settle for an aggressive A/T. I don't mud (mostly sand and mild rocks), but I don't want to get stuck if the trail gets muddy. We have some pretty nasty swampy muck here that pops up and will clog up most A/T's quickly. The tire should be decent on-road as well as off-road. I am currently using the stock BFG Mud Terrain TA KMs, but I need new tires now that the Jeep will be lifted soon.

I am leaning towards the Gladiators, Hercules, Kenda's, or the Fierce Attitudes. Does anyone have any reviews/experiences with any of the above listed tires. Please keep the responses to these tires or similar because there are enough reviews of the more popular (more expensive) tires on here and elsewhere. Thanks. -Todd

The GY Fierce Attitude are basically the same tire as the Duratrac that everyone raves about.

That said, Google is your friend. Personally I would not buy an odd off-brand tire, and I am biased against Goodyear... so from your list I'd more than likely pick the Kendas or maybe Hercules if I was in a real bind.

I'd second the Kenda tires, these are from Taiwan and are a "premium" tire. We import
thousands of Chinese tires and out of your list Kenda is our tire of choice.

I have been searching for info on the above listed tires pretty extensively. The guys on the Cummins Forum and the Nissan off-road forum seem to love the Kendas, Hercules, and Gladiators. The Fierce Attitudes also seem to be well liked. I have not found any Jeep specific reviews or owners, that is why I was asking here if any Jeepers have been using them since the weight and driving styles for Jeeps are different than the other vehicles that I have mentioned (especially the ones on the Cummins forum). The Atturos, Kanati's, and Lionharts are pretty much out for me, but I was just curious about them. The only Jeep stuff that I have found is that some of the Cherokee guys seem to like the Gladiators for the money.

Hercules is actually a pretty big tire company, they make a ton of big rig tires and commercial tires. Kenda has been making bicycle, ATV, and off-road motorcycle tires for a long time that are really good. The Gladiators are kind of unknown, but I think they are somehow owned or made by Hercules, and people LOVE them on the other forums (just no Jeep info). I have heard that the Fierce Attitudes work well all around, but they 'ride hard'(what ever that means). I am leaning toward the Gladiators and the Hercules Ironman All Country's. Let me know if you have used any of these tires. Thanks. -Todd

I'm running Kenda Klever MT 33x12.50 15"s and have ran the tires for a year atleast with nothing but good luck. My local shop had them mounted and balanced for around 950 and I've put about 10k on the tires with only little signs of wear on my TJ. I sadly don't have a gauge to measure them but with a quarter and comparing to my spare seems to be about the thickness of a quarter of wear. Not the best source of measurement but hey I'm a year in and they are great.

I believe that the Gladiator's are on a national back order. They were unavailable about 1.5 weeks ago when I was shopping.
I wound up going with Federal Couragia in the size you mentioned. 4 mounted/balanced with tax for less than 1k. They ride nice and are about as noisy as the stock Rubi tires. Local shop has had great luck with these and they balanced with very little weight.

I saw the Federal Couragia's and I have read pretty good reviews on them, but I heard that they are VERY loud. My local shop claims they can get the Gladiators in a day or two, but I wonder if they will actually be backordered when it comes down to it.

The older Hercules M/Ts got some good reviews,. but not much info on the newer ones (too new). Does anyone out there run Gladiators or Hercules on a JKU?

I don't really think the Hercules, Gladiators, Kendas, Goodyears, or Kanatis would be a bad choice from what I have seen on some of the other vehicle forums. Just trying to fund some Jeep specific reviews.

I went with Kanati Mud Hogs in 35x12.50r17. They weren't really on my list until Sam's Club had them on sale for $160 per tire! I read reviews on them, and everyone seemed to like them, especially for the money. Supposedly they are a copy of an old Goodyear (I think) tire that was popular. The tire tech said that customers seem to like them, and he said they usually sell them for over $200 a tire. I figured that I would give them a shot. If they are bad, then I will let you all know. I will do a review after I drive on them for a bit.

By the way, they do not show up on Sam's website when you search by size. Sams only shows three models in my size. But if you search by the maker's name you get the Kanatis and several other choices, Walmart's website was the same. So, if you are looking for a certain brand of tire, search it by brand name, or walk in an walk the tire display aisles yourself.

I REALLY wanted the Hercules Ironman Mud Terrains originally, so I found several local tire shops who carry Hercules and I called them. They all said we will call you back....no callback. So I went in person to three different Hercules authorized dealers who all sold several tire brands. They each had to call thier distributors, who in turn had to call Hercules (who is located near where I live, Orlando FL). Each shop took like 30 minutes of me standing at the desk while they played telephone with several distibutors who each eventually called Hercules in central Florida. No one could give me a straight answer about the tires availability, so I called Hercules direct, and they told me that they could not answer any questions unless I was a dealer. I told them about my run around, and I also told them that I was just trying to check on the availability only of the tires only to see if they were even released yet, or sold out, and they stated that I could only go to an authorized dealer. Sooo...Hercules lost a sale and a potential review on here since no one from their company or their local authorized dealers could give me a straight answer on where to buy the tires and/or if they are even available.

The Goodyear and Kanati would be at the top of that list for me. Kanati also makes the Mud Hog which is an MT.

The Gladiators look bad ass but are one of the heaviest tires around. The 35s weigh 96 pounds, making it the heaviest 35 tire I know of. This is heavier than the 42x14.50 Goodyear or BFG....
