A few years ago I had a chance to buy a Blacked Out Aztec Gold Rubicon but couldn't quite do it then. I thought it was an AWESOME color, but I haven't seen one since. I have since bought a 04 Patriot Blue Rubicon, and love it, but I never forgot that Blacked Out Aztec Gold Rubicon. Maybe they'll reintroduce the color in 14 or 15

My question is,
What was the consensus with that color?
Did Jeep not like it, or did it not sell very well?
How long and what years did Jeep run this color?

Post any pics of Aztec Gold Jeeps

When I ordered mine, only saw a couple of Inca Golds when cruising the dealer lots. Didn't seem very popular then, even though the Jeep Brochure used the color when showing the Rubicon Model. I ordered it right before my son was born thinking he could have it when he turned 16. I hate the thought of parting with it, and at the moment he likes my 2013 Grand Cherokee Overland because of all the creature comforts. Hopefully he feels the same 5 1/2 years from now.
Here are a couple photos. First five years stock, then needed some new tires so the typical new set of jeep tires, which meant lift, gears, bumpers, etc..

^very nice. yes, Jeep used an Inca Gold Rubicon at the Detroit Auto Show to introduce the Rubicon model. With the exception of your half doors your Rubi looks just like the one they rolled out onto the stage.

Here is the information I got back from Chrysler on production numbers:

We appreciate your patience while your production figure inquiry was
researched.

According to our records, there were 212 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Hardtop
units built in Inca Gold paint for the 2003 model year.

Thanks again for your email.

So there were 80,000 2003 wranglers, 8,000 of those were Rubicons and 212 were Inca Gold Hardtops. Considering this is the first year Rubicon, I bet it will be worth alot of money someday.

Mine is for sale here if anyone is looking for a Gold one:

^great detective work, who knew, only 212 Rubicons were Inca Gold, a one-year-only color. wonder how many Inca Gold SE's. Sports, and X's also shipped in 2003.

so they made about 70,000 2003-2006 TJ Rubicons.....only 212 out of those were Inca Gold, that has to be the least-produced color for the TJ Rubi.

of course being least produced of something does not always translate into more valuable. but either way, very interesting info.
