I read this forum a lot but never had a worthwhile question until now. Hope I can explain it well enough for an answer, not the greatest at explaining stuff, so sorry about all the mistakes in my English. I have a 2019 Jeep Wrangler 4 door sport (automatic) with about 11,000 miles. A months ago I took my (adorable) dog for a ride and when we came home I backed it in the driveway. My dog was excited to get home so I shut the engine off. I took my foot of the break and got out and got my dog out. We went in the house and I notice nothing wrong. The next morning I went out to start my jeep and everything was dead no lights on the dashboard nothing. Then I notice the Jeep was left in reverse. I always thought if you left a car in reverse you would automatically realize it, latter found out why it didn't go forward. I tried a jump starter but that did no good got nothing so my neighbor tried to jump start it with his truck so still nothing. So we took the battery out figuring the battery was bad. We took it to autozone and they checked it out and they said it was good but need to be charged. I left it there and they hook it up to the charger and six hour latter I went to check on it. They did a test on it and they told me it still didn't not have a full charge on it. So I left it over night. The next morning I went to picked it up and they tested it out and it was fully charged. I took it home and put it in my Jeep. Now I had lights but it still would not start. When you push the start button the engine did nothing, but weird the dash lights or dome light didn't go dim. Anyway I tried the jump starter again and it started right up. I haven't an issue since. So I was wondering WHY leaving a car in reverse overnight cause that much drain on the battery. I'm glad they put the anti locking system on the Jeep for people who make dumb mistakes. Hope someone can understand what I try to ask. Sorry again about the mistakes I made, my English is great but have problems getting it out.
