I am new to the forum. I live in Nevada. I have a 2005 Rubi and want to replace the original tires. I can't decide to purchase BF Goodrich AT T/A KO tires or the Toyo T/A tires. I have Toyo tires on my Dodge Ram and really like them. But have talked to Jeep owners that have the BF and say they work well off road. Thanks for any help.....

I run the TOYO M/T's. Although not the AT, I am a big fan of toyo and the casings are hard to beat. I run the 10 ply and have never had a flat, and handle low air pressures in snow and rocks without bead failure. Usually air down to 9 or 10 psi. Toyo's are a little more money, but like boots, you get what you pay for. But you have to buy what you feel comfortable spending and/or what the wallet will allow.
Happy hunting.

Devil Dog,
I also use my Jeep for exploring in UT, NV, and AZ. Both of your tire choices will work about the same off road, and they are both good choices. The Toyo tire is a tougher tire, and more resistent to off road damage than the BFG.

I think both of your choices are better than either of the Goodyear tires shown above. The MTR w/k will work well off road, but will wear quickly. The Duratrac tends to be narrower, and works better in snow, but the tires you have chosen will work better in the typically rocky and sandy soil of Nevada.

Either of your choices will work for what you are wanting to do. Personally I would go with the Toyo based solely on brand preference on my part.
I would stay away from either of the Goodyears.
The MTR is more for rock crawling and way over kill for what you are going to do. The Dura trac has a weak 2 ply sidewall. I would take either of your choices over the Goodyears.

Thanks for all your responds. I am leaning toward the Toyo as I have them on my 2007 Dodge 1500 and am really happy with the tires. The only reason I concidered the BF Goodrich was because there was a few people telling how much they liked the BF's. I have never liked Goodyear tires, so that option is out.

I also loved my BFG all terrains...they worked very well in all types of terrain besides deep mud. I would definitely consider putting those back on a more street/or lighter offroad vehicle.
And the BFG MTs that came on my Rubicon are also very good in everything I put them through...dirt, mud, rocks, snow, ect.

Just out of curiosity what don't you like about Goodyear? I just purchased a set for my TJ and from everything I have read most people really liked them.

I am in the same position, although my wheeling will be in Michigan. I am looking at the 2 tires stated. The BFG's are good tires, I have had them on past vehicles, however I am leaning toward the Toyo AT myself. They are quite a bit cheaper at $166 per tire vs. around $215 for the BFG's (265's).

I'll probably try to track my progress and do a writeup as I have not seen many on the Toyo AT.
