You don’t need to be in neutral to get into 4H, only 4L. 4H can be selected into at any speed up to 55, there is no speed limit when in 4H. Sometimes it can be hard to get the lever to go if you’ve never engaged the Jeep into 4wd before
4H is kinda on the fly. you should be able to get to 4h and back to 2x4 moving. 4 low stop then N or to shift from low back to any high range stop N and the up to high. That is on a JKR. 10 years
so it is stuck in 2x4, wont budge back at all. should not take much to pull back to 4x4 High easy. Low can since even in N it may be clunky if the gears are off a bit.
most times its the plastic clip at the end of the cable that comes off you get floppy stick. Might be case of if you dont use your stick you lose it.
To shift to four high it's easier to do it in gear, rolling about 8-10 mph. To shift into 4L you need to be in neutral.
