My 115v power inverter on the front of the center console is not working. When I hit the button to turn it on it briefly lights up then turns off. Doesn’t seem like something that would be a fuse problem. How do I go about diagnosing this with a multimeter? I’ve barely ever used one. Do I just put the prongs in the outlet and see what it reads?

Is it doing that with something plugged in or without?
It can't carry much load and will turn off if the load is exceeded.
