My wheels: I was going to change to some black ones, but I saw a black jeep with a couple of chromed trim pieces, just hinges and the two braces at the bottom of the window corners.
The rims on that black jeep were pretty shiny and with the other pieces, it surprised me how much I liked that look, lol. I was always a sort of simple look guy. More likely to camo paint with rattle cans, than to shine chrome... but if I can clean them up, I will, but I do not know if they are clear coated and dulled by abrasives, or just needing a cleaning or shine. I will run them in mud and dust of course, and may have to pressure wash the mud off of the rims, if that is OK.
THANKS.

i have the same rims.. they come from the factory clear coated, otherwise they would rust into aluminum oxide, the same crap that is on jeep mirriors. I would like to also shine them mine up too. should i strip them, polish them, then re clear coat? or just polish them as is?

once the clear starts deteriating you won't get a very good shine...wal mart sells aircraft stripper..it will be in the same section as bondo..it will peel the old clear coat then you can polish them,re clear coat them or whatever you want

On my Gamblers, the clear cote is coming off in a couple of places and therefore the rim is coroding into this aluminum oxide. My question is, if I strip the clear cote off, can I get the aluminum oxide off to get the rims polished out? Obviously, I know that I would have to clear cote again, but I can't stand that corrosion on my rims.
