I just picked up a 98 TJ with a 6" lift. All of the coil spring rubber bumpers, front and rear, are either missing or broken and laying at the bottom of the spring.I will not be rock climbing or off roading with this jeep. Just wondering if the bumpers are even necessary. The jeep also has the detachable Skyjacker sway bar end links with bad bushings. Can I purchase the bushings separately or do I have to buy entire end link?
Thanks for any help.

They are the bumpers inside of the spring located at the top that would hit the bottom mount of the spring if the spring was compressed all the way. They stick down about 6 or 8 inches and would hit the bottom if need be. I just do not see how they would ever do a damn thing unless you were rock climbing and had the sway bar end links disconnected to allow the spring to fully open on the opposite side thus compressing the spring fully.

Those are called jounce bumpers. Required? Assuming your bumpstops properly set not required but will help soften the impact of the bumpstop cup to the spring pad. They are pretty cheap, especially if you grab some from the junkyard.

You would be surprised how much travel your suspension goes through even on the road, over train tracks or speed bumps. Be sure your bumpstop is set properly

Just a note to say thanks to all who gave advice. I understand the situation fully and have resolved the problem. The only place I could get the bushings for the end links was Amazon. All the auto parts stores looked at me like I was from another planet when I asked about the bushings. Luckily one of the distributors looked it up and gave me a part number. Amazon had them.
thanks all,

Greg
