Convenience Group

My sister is looking to order a 2021 JLU Sport Altitude and she was wondering about the convenience group. It shows that it adds both remote start and a universal garage door opener. She is planning on ordering the cold weather group which also adds remote start. The convenience group drops to $400 when ordered with the cold weather group but it seems steep for just the universal garage door opener. Is there something else that's not listed that also comes with the convenience group?

I don’t know for sure, but perhaps it adds an auto dimming mirror.

On my JKs, it added features to the dashboard information center, like pressure readings for each tire, a digital speedometer, etc.

Best is to ask a dealer.

To my knowledge the cold weather package doesn't include remote start (at least from what I read on the Jeep.com website). My 2020 JL Sport S has both the cold weather and convenience group. Honestly, I wouldn't have selected the convenience group if I had built my own, but I found the options I was looking for on a dealer lot and it just happened to have the convenience package and the block warmer in addition to the options I was seeking, and I didn't mind having either option, though I've only used the remote start once, just to try it out. I'm sure for some, the remote start is great for extreme cold or hot weather.

According to my 2019 Jeep's window sticker, the cold weather package contains, heated front seats, heated steering wheel and remote-start system (NA with manual transmission).

I use remote start ALL THE TIME. It's SO hot here that I need to get the Jeep cooled off a little before I get in it. And I VERY MUCH wish my Jeep had come with keyless proximity entry. My WK2 had that, and I miss it dearly. I still find myself walking up to my remote started Jeep and pulling on the handle. Then I remember I have to unlock with the fob :( More often than not, I will remote start, and then immediately unlock, so I can drop the fob back in my pocket and not touch it again.

Nice comment. Once you learn how the proximity remote works it really becomes a habit. The other day I had handed my fob to my wife for some reason and then I went to get back in the Jeep and was very annoyed that it did not recognize me. Opps, I need the fob in my pocket. I love it. I still don't use remote start much but I am also learning that one. My sons are both remote start junkies. Especially in the winter when they come visit. When they start packing up the kids they always hit the fob to heat up the car before they leave.

Funny story about the proximity key: One day I needed to go into a store, but I was driving. No big deal, I stopped in front of the store, my wife got out and hopped into the driver's seat. Problem was I started to run into the store with the key in my pocket! She was sitting in the drive in front of the store and couldn't shift out of park!! Luckily I saw that she wasn't moving before I went into the store and was able to run back and toss her the key!! 🤦‍♂️

Proximity locks are indeed a great feature. But many end up missing it; FCA has set up the option in such a way that makes it easy to overlook.

It should be part of the Cold Weather Group or included with the leather seats. Chances are, if you want a fully loaded Wrangler, you want proximity locks.

My wife and I have had the proximity sensors on our last 4 cars (2 new, 2 used). Didn't order them that way, they just already had them. My company car has a standard remote. I've lost count of the times I've walked up to it and tried to open the door, forgetting I actually have to push a button on the remote. My father is 84, and he has the proximity on his car. He thought you had to have the key fob on you at all times to get into it. I grabbed something for him out of his trunk the other day, while he still had his key fob in his pocket.. He asked me how I broke into his car. ;)

I'm looking at the jeep build site at the Willys. Whenever I just pick the convenience group, the remote start is there. If I add the cold weather group, the convenience group just lists the garage door opener and the remote start is gone. Remote start is not under the cold weather group either. I assume remote start is not available if you pick the cold weather group. I'd ask my dealer, but last time I was there, he didn't know everything about the Wrangler. He knew a lot, but not everything.

Actually I believe that remote start is included in the cold weather package so that might be why the a la carte option is dropping off. All three of the last JLURs I have purchased had the cold weather option and the remote start was included. Let's see what a few others have to say to make sure. I am right.

Don't overlook the value of the proximity remote either. I am a big fan now.
