Looking for some trail heads at Daniel Boone. Do they allow off-road vehicles? Or is it just for ATVs and Dirtbikes? I'd prefer it to be within 2.5 hours away from Cincinnati. My buddies and I are planning a Fall trip.
Thanks in advanced!

Fisty, Kentucky .. near Hazard. There are lots of old logging roads and trails. I have family there. We ride 4-wheelers up there often when I go to visit. Seen many trucks and Jeeps having a good time. Although some of the trails are way too narrow .. even for a Jeep.

For anyone interested there is a page on facebook called Friends of Boone, the admins have been working with local government in the gorge area and SWFDA to get the trails re-opened and much maintenance has been done, great place to ride. Sometime next month cartotracks is supposed to relase a map/smartphone app of the area so that you can follow along the trails on your own.

Following along on this. Man to make a trip this summer there!

Can anybody name off some roads that are "trail like" and worth checking out? So far I have the Zachariah 4 wheel drive trail on my list and spaas creek road. Carburetor hill is on the Zachariah right? Is there a bypass for it?

I am in Lexington and go to the area for trail rides. The trails are more in the Slade area and are really good with a variety of difficulty. The trails are not well marked and are accessed off of back roads, you really need to know where they. If you are interested in a fall ride check out The Kentucky Krawlers as they host a variety of rides one is in the fall and a Toys for Tots ride, it is a great day. Last year there were probably 40 rigs. I am a new member and went this last Saturday with the group and had a great time! Cant ask for a better group of people to ride with.. My Tj is second in line

I can't believe that nobody mentions looking at the MVUMs! The Motor Vehicle Use Map for the DBNF is the ONLY official open route map available! These maps are updated every year and free of charge. You can pick up a copy from the appropriate ranger district, or print a small copy online...

I just released my first Android app - OFFROAD ATLAS. It will make the National Forest Road and Trail Motor Vehicle Use Maps available on your phone - FOR OFFLINE USE.

I posted at Motor Vehicle Use Maps for Android with a few free promo codes to try it out.

I would love to hear what you think. You can also browse the map and try a demo out online at offroadatlas.org
