Why are there so many different models and what the heck is the difference between them all? I have been reading about these but get confused about the differences. Can anyone that has any of these models please chime in here and let me know how you feel about the model you have and what or if you wish you had a different model and why? As far as I can tell, one of the models is weatherproof and one isn't. Some have bluetooth and some don't. Some have nav and some don't. I'm trying to decide but can't seem to get all the models straight. Which model is the latest and greatest? Thanks.

I just installed the i209 this past weekend. Not a real expert on the differences but basically the x models give you built in navigation and CD/DVD capability over the i model. The 209 added weatherproofing and Android Auto over the 109. Latest/greatest would be the X209 but it's around $1500 more than the i209. The cost of the i209 was rough enough. I think the 009 models give up Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

I think i may have a similar set up installed (No dash cam) when i receive my Wrangler. I know there are many variables but could you PM what the total cost of unit + accessories and install was. I have contacted several installers in my area and have yet to hear back. I want to try and get as much info as possible before mine is built. Still deciding on whether or not to get the 430N or save the ~$1k and use it towards the upgrade.

Do any of you guys with the restyles leave your Jeep parked topless/naked places? Or has anyone heard of issues with theft? I'm debating about upgrading my head unit, but someone stealing it while topless is the main thing holding me back

I’ll be real honest with you. This stereo would probable be one of the easiest stereos to steal. The bezel doesn’t bolt on. It just clips in. Then there’s only four bolts holding the stereo in the dash. I have yet to park my Jeep naked for any length of time but I don’t think I have the guts to leave it naked anywhere but in my city(I live in a reasonably low crime city). But that’s just me.

I also think Alpine's website is beyond horrible for these radios. Why they can't make it EASY for us to compare the difference between the models is beyond me.

It's also amusing how they let us click on Jeep, then Wrangler and 2dr or 4 dr. However it still lists every restyle kit they offer and not just the wrangler kits.

The new for this year models, I believe all start with a 2 and are all water resistant plus restyled vs the first gen.

All the old models are on clearance/sale, sometimes $1,000 off plus it includes their backup camera. I would think these aren't selling great thus possibly more room to negotiate prices.

They also have their i207-wra at $1,000 which would compare more to other companies radio with the smaller 7in screen.

I have always been a firm believer in if they want it (the radio, Jeep or whatever) they will stop at no cost to get it.

x009WRA - discontinued and not waterproof. has nav and disc player built in.

i109WRA -discontinued and one of alpines biggest flops. no sirius or BT built in. no disc player.

i209WRA - IP53 waterproof and runs android auto and carplay. no disc player. sirius and bluetooth built in. (have sold a lot of these so far)

x209WRA - IP53 waterproof and runs android auto and carplay. disc player, nav. sirius and bluetooth.

if you use carplay and want that, look at the ILX107, basically the only WIRELESS carplay radio right now and is a direct drop in double din for your JK and if theft is a problem may want to check it out.

feel free to reach out if anyone is interested in getting one for a deal or want more info.

The i109 is discontinued and do not even look at it if you see "a deal". We took more returns than sales on that one and like I said was Alpine' biggest flop. Your Sirius radio is done though data so a lot used and also NO BLUETOOTH whatsoever. Look at the ilx-107 and the i209. As far as pricing that will need to be done through PM due to forum rules.

i'm about to put in the i209 and opted to pick up the kac-001 accessory module instead of running an spod. any of you guys with the restyle install the accessory module too? the module looks easy enough, but i wish it came with a relay box so i didn't have to create my own. part of the reason i went with the alpine was the plug and play harnesses. i hate wiring and was hoping for a tutorial for dummies.

Here's the deal on the KAC-001. It doesn't output voltages strong enough to run accessories it just provides enough voltage to be used as trigger signals to relays. It outputs a negative 250 MA signal which means your relays have to be setup to work with a negative trigger. I built my own relay box, not that hard to do if you're interested I can get you the info you need to do it yourself if you feel up to it. For an overview you are going to have to be comfortable taking your dash apart, building a wire harness, wiring the relays, and fishing wires from the cabin to the engine bay. If you hate wiring this is probably not a job you'll want to take on.

@RubiTruxBen not to necropost in here, but do you happen to know if any of the Alpine restyle units can read .gpx files? I have a FunTreks SD card and would be COOL if I could use the headunit instead of my 10yr old Garmin Nuvi.

Of course, I havent bought a restyle YET, but Im leaning that way.

From what I can tell, it will not read that file format. If you are trying to bring over WayPoints or something if I remember correct it could not really be done. Probably have to start fresh there. Probably worth the time saving the new ones so you do not have to use a 10 year old platform.

Hey @RubiTrux, just on your site. I'm looking to upgrade my head unit. I have the 430N and I'm using 67 designs and my iphone for navigation. Hate my 430N and Navigation (and this after updating the maps - which was PAINFUL). So, it's time to upgrade my HU. I have already upgraded my tweeters, subwoofer and sound bar via @Pressurized instructions - with the Pioneer Sub. My old Alpine speakers are sitting on a shelf in my garage.

Ok, here's my questions:
1. I see the Alpine INE-W960HDMI on your site, how does that compare to the ILX-107 you mention above?
2. With either the W960 or ILX 107, will I need to modify my dash in such a way where I can't put my old 430N back in? I was just wondering.

Needs: Bluetooth, Spotify, Steering wheel controls, ability to use WAZE on my HU, Backup camera capable when I install that, AM/FM, Sirius (though I don't use it now) and will I be able to keep my 67 designs mount?

Thanks for your help.

I have a 2014 Rubi JKU.

The 960HDMI does not have carplay, or android auto so you cant use WAZE on your headunit.
The ILX is carplay only, which means it also does not have bluetooth.

Neither require dash modification.

What we would recommend for you is the I207-WRA. Its carplay and android auto compatible, so you can use your favorite apps. It also has bluetooth, and you do not have to modify your dash. (67 designs compatible)
It comes with the maestro which reads your engine computer and keeps steering wheel controls ect.

Same here we installed the i209 not long ago. So far im pretty impressed. The only thing that seems to be a pain is the dimmer settings. We will get a review up soon.
Here is our install video.
