Different seals better than Dorman for oil filter housing?

Couple year lurker. First time poster.

My 2013 JKUR has 145k miles and I’ll be replacing the oil filter housing as it’s leaking/cracked. I replaced the original about a year and a half ago (30k-ish miles ago) with an off brand plastic one I found off Amazon. Since the replacement has already failed, I’m thinking of "upgrading" to the aluminum Dorman one. That being said, I’m seeing a few posts about seals and gaskets failing and it's got me thinking- what's the best gasket, seal combo I can get/pair for the aluminum filter housing? I've seen people report the ones that come with the Dorman kit fail. Is there a consensus on a particular brand that works best? I'm hoping I don't have to do this a third time... TIA!

Thanks! I'm seeing the 2014+ has orange o-rings. I called my local dealer's parts department and they said the have the following on-hand: O Ring Kit - Mopar (68191356AB). These don't appear to be the same color so I'm not sure on the effectiveness- or if it really matters. Any ideas on that?
Also, would it be worthwhile purchasing OEM intake manifold gaskets as well? Or should the Dorman ones suffice?
Also, should I trust the gaskets between the filter housing at the filter itself that come with the Dorman one?
Like I said, I'm hoping I won't have to make this repair for a third time so I don't mind putting some extra money towards it 😁

I was one of the people that reported back that my Dorman seals failed. Specifically, the oil passages on the "figure 8" seals between the housing and the cooler appeared to have melted and collapsed. Since there doesn't appear to be an OEM sku for these two seals, we are stuck with Dorman or "Chinesesium" seals from alibaba (some people have also pulled the trigger on newish OEM plastic coolers, pulled them apart, pulled the OEM seals out and reused them with RTV) . Since I had already experienced the Dorman seals failing I took the chance on a "chineseum" seal. They are rust colored which could mean they are either silicone or viton material.

That said, last I heard, Dorman was working to revise the seal materials....not sure where they are at with that though.

On the new seals I used, I've only been through one oil change so far (8k miles) which isn't enough mileage for me to feel confident that they are a reliable choice (the dorman's failed between one and two changes 8k-16k). So far, knock on wood, no leaks. Will report back later.

Gotcha. It sounds to be the Dorman seals are good enough (with a few exceptions as yourself). I can imaging there're at least a couple thousand of these out there and so far a handful of reports of the seals failing (but of course all those who experiences a problem will say something...).
Out of curiosity, I called Dorman and asked if they updated the seal or if they could provide me with any info regarding those. They said they don't see any notes or revisions for those seals in their system so as far as technical support knows, nothing's being worked on 🤷‍♂️

Total coincidence but was just pinged by a buddy last night that just confirmed his Dorman seals failed as well. He heard through another Jeep friend about my experience and was inquiring about different seal options.

Anyway, keep an eye on them. If you have a slow leak it may take a long time for the valley to fill and spill over. You'll need a bore scope to catch it earlier.

Fingers crossed for the rest of you. 🤞🏻🤞🏻😎

Like the rest of you I was concerned about the Figure-8 seals. I couldn't get them from Fel-Pro which I used for my other seals (the ones under the housing), so I covered the Figure-8 seals with generous amounts of Permatex Ultra Black head gasket sealant, figuring that would protect the Dorman seals. It's not been enough time to comment on whether or not this worked.
