I'm new to the jeep life and don't want to make a faux pas. I bought my 2010 JK in December and love it (btw)...I'm looking to get a rear tire cover and I found one I like with the Distressed WWII star. I need some advice...can I put that on my jeep or is that symbol specific to a certain model or "series"? I like it much better than all black, but I do not want to commit any "jeep sins" lol. Any advice is appreciated!! (Pic of cover is attached)

You my get folks that spent extra money on an "Oscar Mike" edition Wrangler that they are only for that edition. My feeling is that the Army stars are acceptable on any Wrangler. Our vehicles owe their heritage to those small military Jeeps that sported the stars coming off the assembly line.

Of course, I'm rather biased as anyone that has seen my Jeeps can understand :)

Thank you for your opinion..it's much appreciated!! And I'm leaning towards purchasing it.

It's your Jeep besides Jeep owner's don't follow public opinion, political correctness ends at the edge of the pavement. :)

The star insignia is always welcome on a Jeep. Worst case you will make the Oscar Mike's jealous and they will have buy one too.

yeah that's the distressed star that comes on the Freedom Editions

and as an owner of a Freedom Edition - you don't irritate me - I peeled the star off my hood the first week I had it (ordered it based on the color not the package - was the first model Hydro Blue was offered on)

Plus with the Jeeps military roots I doubt anyone would blink twice at that (and no one outside the Jeep community will know the difference between a Freedom Edition v Sport v Sahara v Polar v Hard Rock etc....)

As a retired USAF Vet and the son of a 25 year USMC Vet I don't have an issue with someone displaying victory stars and POW/MIA decals on a Jeep. As others have said its part of the vehicles heritage. Its your Jeep do what you want with it.

i was in the Military and never saw anyone upset over a vehicle that looks like the service days. On the contrary I see one and think, cool reminds me of the old ones we used. Most guys I know have fun with the idea of seeing old or new equipment no matter who owns it. Mine is an Anvil Grey and reminds me of a Navy Jeep. Who knows I may slap a Star on it for fun.

I bought a trailer at auction from the U.S.M.C. It was painted camo and had all the original markings. The only thing I did was change out the wiring and tail lights; and put bigger wheels and tires on it. I wasn't in the military, but didn't even think about changing the looks. I always got lots of honks and waves, and that was back in the 80's. Wish I hadn't sold it.
