Do I need boomerang shackles?

I see lots of pictures and comments about doing boomerang shackles. However, I have no idea what the point of them is. I have a 4 inch suspension lift and I am looking for a good cheap project. Are boomerang shackles going to be any benefit? I am not concerned with more lift, I guess I was hoping it might improve ride quality. Thanks so much

If your current shackles are binding then booms will help... if not then no

I watched some YouTube videos tonight and it looks like they are not a bad idea. A couple of the people actually said it help with the ride quality. Probably more of the fact that they were greased for the first time in 20 years, but improvement none the less. Looks like it might be worth spending $100 or so for this upgrade

You could spend more money on a mod that'll give you less benefit.
Let us know what you think about any difference in ride.

Good Luck, L.M.

Boomerang shackles in the front help prevent spring inversion which is not normally a problem. Boomerangs in the rear are better than H type shackles that will hit the frame and prevent the shackle from moving rearward. Unless you have a problem with spring inversion or the shackle hitting the frame in the rear you dont need them.

This is what can happen if you invert the spring with a standard shackle

A boomerang in the front keeps that from happening because the third bolt will hit the frame. There is a right and wrong way to install boomerangs and people improperly install them all the time.
