OMG…these no-talent assclowns!!!

💵 Ordered taillights in March which were on backorder.
📦 Was given a ship date in April.
✏ When it was a week out the dates slipped one day at a time for a week, then pushed out a month.
📆 Rinse repeat for April, May, June…all told I’ve had ~30 different estimated ship dates.
🤯 Today I log in to their craptastic site and see my date now just says 12+ weeks!!!

Who the 🤬 is waiting over HALF A YEAR to get taillights from these incompetent fools?

Good bye Extreme Terrain…cancel my order, unsubscribe me from your incessant emails, take me off the mailing list for your catalogs.

What a GOD DAMN 🤡📺

There are many companies that do this. I have never ordered anything from Extreme Terrain.

I’ve had great luck with ET ! Same with Quadratec.
Great Google reviews for both far outweigh the naysayers.
Can’t please everyone.
Life goes on.
I had great experiences with them too…until I didn’t and they were completely unprepared to provide anywhere near a good experience.

There’s just no excuse for taking orders you’re not capable of fulfilling, whether it’s taillights or gift cards. Just be honest with your customers and don’t make them work so hard to get what they paid for.

I've ordered from both Extreme Terrain and Quadratec in the past and had positive experiences with both. It seems like it's just getting more and more common as time goes by to find a total lack of customer service at almost all companies. It's sad but I'm afraid it's the shape of things to come as it becomes harder to find people who actually are willing to do a job for their pay and do it well. Oh, and actually care about anything. This all began with the mentality of people getting jobs based on degrees having absolutely nothing to do with the job they ended up with, bosses being unable to maintain discipline because it was labeled as harassment to do so, and a generation of "participation trophy" recipients entering the workforce expecting to be rewarded for accomplishing absolutely nothing.

I shop at Northridge almost exclusively and have had great experiences. ET looks like
mostly cheap china junk.

most of my Jeep has been modded from NR.
I have had better experiences shipping from overseas than some domestic.
Stedi is an example.

Gosh I recall the 70s when Just in time delivery became a thing. It lowered operating costs by reducing the need to purchase needlessly extra stock and also reduced warehousing.
Like every shoe store in a mall.

It seems theyve gone a little overboard. But then did we ever think car makers would try to make you fell special by "allocating" a vehicle after making you wait?

I uses Amazon a lot as most things are made ahem overseas. But Ive also used aliexpress when it was ok to wait for the same product from the same factory. Sometimes crazy cheaper prices.

Amazon is the new Walmart of the 90s.
They no longer offer anything but multiple Chinese brands selling the same product.
I would guess that a majority of people average 1 item per week from them over an entire year.

i haven’t had any issues with XT, but I honestly don’t doubt your experience. I’ve had two bad experiences with Quadratec, one where i had a winch plate I wanted to return within the 30 day return policy as it was not the same plate that was in the online picture, and they provided no shipping label so it was $120 bucks to ship back so I only ended up getting $10 dollars back since the winch plate cost $130. If it was Amazon no questions asked I would have been able to return it and get my money back. I’m not the biggest fan of Amazon as a company and I don’t want off-road parts dealers to go out of business, but my god amazon is going to eat these companies alive.

My other petty issue is just QTs long list of items on back order.

I was mildly annoyed when Just Jeeps here in Canada took weeks to ship an order because they didn't have the parts in stock -- without saying when taking the order that they were going to be backordered -- I can't imagine being strung along for six months.

I'd rant about customer service and its decline (and the corresponding decline in customer decorum), but I'd just be repeating others. I don't know if Amazon is a solution, however.

I don't like any of the aftermarket LED lights for the TJ as they all seem to either require modification of the factory housing or drill out the rivnuts so the factory lights could not be reinstalled.

I bought a set of LED tail light for my JKU from Amazon and in one word they are GREAT. Most figured it would be the other way. No separate resistor to install. Remove the two screws on the tailgate side, unplug the old plug up the new slip into place and replace the screws. Bright lights and 20 watt back up lights. That's brighter than the LED lights in my living room.

I have noticed that Quadratec has started noting that some items (like Bestop tops) ship from a third party. They also indicate if an item is on back order. They have improved, but their update of the computer system was a nightmare. And they no longer show a phone number for customer service, it is done by email and no where near as effective.

Years ago I want to replace the flares on my '03 Rubicon. (They are different from those on the X or Sport). Quadratec showed them listed but - back ordered. Summit show them without comments, and I ordered. Then the shipping date started slipping. A couple of weeks - NBD. Then again and again. I was ordering some hinges from one of the Mopar on line suppliers and was talking to their customer service. I mentioned in passing I was needing the flares, and commented "I don't guess that you have them, do you?". The answer was YES!!!! They were a bit more and the shipping was high because of the size of the box (6' x 3' x 1') but all four were in the box. I cancelled the order from Summit and it took a month for them to credit my credit card.

Rock Auto doesn't really have a customer service, but at least their prices are good and their website is a good research tool.

It would actually be more helpful to post the link or the description of the actual tail lights that are on backorder.

Stuff happens and I would have called and spoke to someone direct in early May as they don’t charge you for backordered items until they ship unless paying with PP.

I had spoken to support previously. The last time I was told they were getting a shipment in a week prior to my pre 12+ weeks ship date. Guess they didn’t do the math and my order didn’t make the cut. Wait another three months for a slow boat from China.

entitlement comes in to play when you have offered no money or labor and expect something for nothing.
If a website says they have something in stock I expect that to be accurate.

Refer to the cliff notes : Item ordered was on backorder from the get-go and you don’t get charged until it ships.

To all those who said “I’ve ordered from these guys and not had a problem”

Yeah? Me too. That’s the point. You order from these sites and it’s going well, until it isn’t.

Eventually the law of averages catches up to you, they screw something up and are ill-equipped to make things right.
For sure, it’s called life.
of course my exhaust order will be cursed now ..🍺

I ordered a set of Bestop soft doors from Extreme Terrain for my wrangler. I received a set of USED doors already assembled and the fabric was torn in several places! I didn’t open the box within the first month due to winter weather in Ohio. When I called Extreme Terrain, they would not replace them because I was past the 30 day return policy. I reminded them the doors were falsely advertised and actually used and not new. I had to contact the state’s attorney general. Their office intervened. I then contacted Bestop and explained the situation. Extreme Terrain apologized. But Bestop replaced them.

Nothing in this thread would stop me from shopping there if they have the product I want at the price I want. When you order something back ordered you take a risk. In this case it didn’t work out for you. You were not out any money and they didn’t send a broken or wrong part.

Take a breath, and turn off the internet. Take a walk outside. Maybe pop a B12 supplement. And stay hydrated.

I’ve had good experience with ET, but I’m not doing business with them because they load your inbox with emails. Way to many!
