I have an '07 JK Wrangler (2 door) & have removed backseat for additional space. Plus it's almost impossible to get into backseat. I also have a large breed puppy. He's been riding in a crate in back....but is rapidly growing out of it. He'll be approximately 110 lbs. Looking for suggestions in keeping him safe while riding. (Other than buying a bigger Jeep ;-) Can a dog safety harness be attached anywhere?

I secure my pup by using the leash and buckling the end of the leash, it still gives her some room. If your seats are removed how about using the factory roll cage and looping the leash through itself to secure it to the horizontal bar View attachment 4546741
Perfect!
Dog safety harness will be cheapest option. I enjoyed cargo nets as we had 4 dogs.

I do have a good safety harness. Just needed methods of attachment. I LOVE your cargo net. Do you recall where you bought it?

K9 American Outfitrers make a great restraint strap. Sorry I don’t know how to post a link. Unlike most restraint systems it does not attach to a seatbelt clip. Their strap uses a carabiner to attach to the seat belt itself. Their strap would work well with Blue Baby Sound’s setup. I have a 60# lab/border collie mix but they make systems for much larger dogs too. Bought the harness as well but found one with a better for my dog. Mine has seen daily use for 5+ years

We use two double sided lead attachments, which are approximately two feet long, and use one for each 60 LBS dog. We attach one to each of the rear seat tethers back there, and from there it gets attached to the dog's harness. They are just long enough to keep them from climbing out of the tailgate.

Wish I had better pictures, but you know how dogs don't sit still for anything.

I ended up making this thing that snaps into the seatbelt and clip it to a harness. I don't worry about her jumping out she knows to stay until she's released but I always worried if I needed to make a quick movement or if I got in s wreck. The last thing I wanted was for her to get thrown out. The dog gets more upset than my wife when it comes time to put the doors back on.

I strung a steel (plastic coated) cable "zip line" between the roll (sport) bars, centered in the seatless cargo area. Anothe cable attaches to her harness. Allows her to lay down anywhere in the back, but she can't get into the front seat (or out a window, not that she ever has). She can stand with he front paws on the center console to look out the front.

I use one of these connected to the middle car seat tether from my dog's back harness buckle. Works great he's free to move about the cargo area, but can't jump out it even over the seat

It anchors to one of the child restraint tether points on the bottom of the back seats. My dog's not a chewer either, but he does try to go up front any chance he can, not to mention just needing to be restrained safely. The force would surely tear the d ring right off his harness, but it's better than nothing.

there's many ways to handle this .
but a few things that are consistent is .
don't secure your dog by a collar, this could break your dogs neck.use a harness.
when selecting a harness make sure it has metal buckles.
and make sure any leads used and the attachment point can withstand 5x your dogs weight

Current pup (12 weeks old) is still riding in a crate that I have secured to the passenger side roll bar.
As soon as he is able/trusted to ride in the back, I fill take a 6' leash, wrap through it's handle and around the center of the roll bar twice.
I will then secure the leash to a body/vest harness.

The two wraps around the roll bar are to effectively shorten the length of the leash.
I did this with my previous dog. He could move around and not reach outside of the tub.

This is in a JKU...

We use a ruffwear dog harness that has a metal attachment point in the middle of the harness. For years we used nylon straps [2] attached to the rear end of the roll bar. Present dog chews through the straps, so now we use a stainless steel chain in place of the straps. Keep the chains short enough so the dog can't join you in the front seat or jump out the tailgate and sort of saddle hang himself. Just watch the dog if he goes in too many circles and cinches up the harness.

Kugo direct strap hooked to their no pull harness works great buckled to a center positioned lower seat belt point.
