Hi all I have been trying to find a video or photos of how to tap into the existing stock wires to have DRL. I noticed also different colors wires in different videos all from TJ models. I looked at the diagram that someone had posted (thank you for such great sharing) and I believe I narrow down my wires colors to yellow/white and brown. But I am not 100% sure. I have included a pic of my wires and I also would like to see how you tap into these wires. Can someone share a close up pictures or a small video of how to actually do it? Sorry if I sound like a noob cause I am 😂

Just wanted to bring this back to life as I have finally time to get back to it
Jeep is a 2006
I noticed that the new headlights came with two additional wires and connectors as shown in the picture attached below....would that make things easier? Would it be possible to use these wires to connect it directly to the battery as I have seen in few videos? If so would the green be the positive?
I appreciate your help guys thank you

Do you know for a fact they are DRL's?
Not safe to assume anything coming from China. Where is the original paperwork?

You could test the green theory by going directly to the battery. But then you need to wire in a fuse and a switch. Whether a single switch or a powered switch, but needs a fuse along its path.

@srssr They are led and yes they have a color halo that I am trying to power on. Right now it doesn't come on. So I should connect one of the two wires at the time with a battery and see what happens?

I may be confusing the DRL with the halo. But I have seen videos of connecting them directly to the battery with some precautions like the fuse you mentioned @DuckNut

Please let me know what you think and how should I get this done

Take a wire, put an inline fuse on the end and attach it to the battery. Take the other end and touch one of the two wires. Then touch the other one. If they light up, you're golden. If not, try turning the key on (but this should not matter because you are bypassing all switched power, but maybe it works for some reason). If they turn on find a switched power source at the fuse block and attach the wire.

Leave the main headlight plug connected, that is your ground for the whole light. Attach a wire from the white wire to the battery so see which color lights up. If it is the white light then the green wire will light the amber light. For proper operation you will have to connect the white light wire to key on power only, direct 12v connection will keep the light on constantly. The other wire, amber lamp, will then be connected to the turn signal wire in the harness on each side seperatly. The turn signal connection will cancel the white light when the signal is turned on and go back to white when the signal is turned off. Remember the amber lights must be connected to each side seperatly, but the white lights may be connected together and operate on 1 wire. Hope this helps..

Thanks @srssr I checked and the white wire turns on the pink ring light and the green wire turns on the amber light. See pics attached. Now to have the pink ring light on every time even when the lights are off do I connect them to the battery directly with a add a fuse box as I saw on some online videos? The amber ring light will cancel the pink ring light when turn signal is on is that correct? So therefore I should run two separate wires for each side and where do I connect them to?
Thank you for your valuable help seems like I am getting there 🙏

Yes i would like to pink one to stay on as DRL so I was thinking to using a fuse tap like the one pictured and connect it with the key on power. Video suggested ignition fuse as that is on the moment you turn the key? As for the amber lights when you say anger can be hooked up to the turn signal lamps do you mean set up a wire that will tap into the existing turning light wires like with one of these t tap connectors ?

@srssr run into an issue with tapping into the fuses I want to tap into something that has no power until the ignition is turned on but all the fuses I have are power on all the time so even if I have no key in the ignition and no lights turned on the pink halo is on no matter what...2006 TJ fuse diagram picture below...

do you know if any of the fuse on the passenger side are off until you turn ignition on?

Puzzled about this as the fuse diagram shown on this link does not match what I have Fuses diagram

What I have below

Do I need a test light to see which one are dead with key off? I tried to tap in on every fuse from 17 to 28 with the key off and the pink halo was on no matter what...is that the wrong way to test it? I am so close yet I can't get this...
Also my fuse box labels 28 as clutch override but on the manual linked on one of my previous replies it lists a bunch of other things including "fuel injector".
The guy in the video I watched was having my same problem and ended up using the 28 as he said fuel injector only gets power when you turn the key on. But in my case 28 is clutch override...and seem to be power on as halo turns on the moment I plug in....

I was just looking at the schematics for the underhood fuse box and it seems to have power all the time on all the mini fuses. Are there any spots in the underhood fuse box that do not have a relay in them? If so use a test light and check the terminals where the relay would go for power when the key is on. If you find power with key on then use a inline fuse holder and a male spade terminal and plug it into that spot in the fuse box. There should be terminals in the locations even though there are no relays in place. Thats where I found power for mine. I have a 99 TJ 4.0 5 speed.

The best place to pick up fused, key on power in the PDC is from either the ABS or the rear window defrost relays if you do not have either ABS or a factory hard top. Both of those should have one terminal that gets 12v, key on power from fuse 7 in the fuse block behind the glove box. The only other components on that fuse are the back up lights & the fuse is 10a.

If either relay slot is open & the halos are to be fused with a 10a or less fuse you should be able to plug a spade terminal directly into that open terminal in the relay socket & no added fuse without overloading the circuit. Those terminals are not for the power feed to the relays but for the energizing coils. If you happen to need more than 10a you could use that terminal to trigger a relay for the new lights but doubt they need even 10a.

I think I was successful! I found power on the empty HBL relay (see posted pics above) and it seems to get power only on key on position! Using the male spade as suggested! Thanks @srssr Just for the record only the fog lamp relay has mount for the spare rest are empty but even that one does NOT get power. Thank you everyone that helped figure this out and for the time you dedicated to help me. Hope this will help someone else too! Pic attached. Going to tie wires and clean things up now. Thanks again!!!
