Hello,
Which one of these do you most of you prefer? It feels like a simple Flatlink would be just fine. I also wonder if a Prolink would stick out just enough for me to bump into...ha.... Also, is it safe to just grab one on Amazon? I don't want to buy a fake one and not know it.

128 seems like a pretty good deal for this...I would love your thoughts on this...Thx.

It's really not a whole lot less than ordering direct. Why take the risk if you are worried about fake ones?

I like the Flatlink E because you can fit a shackle through it in both directions because of the bigger hole. Not a deal-breaker, but a nice option to have. I bought mine direct, so can't speak to Amazon.

FlatLink E is easier to get a soft shackle through also.
But other than the 'bling" factor, what does any of them do that a simple loop cannot?
I had a FlatLink E on both my jeeps. Then took them off when I changed winch ropes to one with a hard-dipped eye/loop with no metal thimble.
I see no reason to have any metal in my recovery setup unless it's a pulley block.

Near ever run we use winches. Day that no one winches or brakes down is a rare day. I have seen ropes snap, I have seen cables as well but not wheeling in my 40+ years.

Every rope that i witnessed snap, i was the anchor or watching near by. Was a nothing burger. makes a pop but really no recoil. Cables on the other hand........, but that tends to be doing something wrong like a snatch and go pull where you must use kinetic rope. They tend to get frayed that first 50 feet the most. In hard use. Much like a Rock climbing rope will, we called it the working end.

I dont have one of these still use the hook that warren supplied though i made a rubber pad that is on the rope so when it pulls in tight the hook lays flat and tight as well, wont damage the fair lead, cost nothing. I am cheep at times i guess been like that many years done uncountable recoveries of other and my self. Large club i am in so i see every gear on earth used. Soft ties are cool just, lot of money for a monkey knot pull through...
